NGC 68 adalah Galaksi lentikular,[5] dan anggota sentral grup NGC 68, yang berada di rasi bintang Andromeda. Galaksi ini ditemukan pada tanggal 11 September 1784, oleh William Herschel, yang saat itu sedang mengamati grup NGC 68 sebagai objek tunggal dan menggambarkannya sebagai "sangat samar, besar, 3 atau bintang 4 plus kabut nebula". Dengan demikian, lokasi yang dilaporkannya adalah antara NGC 68, NGC 70, dan NGC 71. Pada saat Dreyer mengamati galaksi-galaksi untuk menambah katalog NGC, ia mampu mendeteksi bahwa galaksi yang diamati oleh Herschel tersebut sebenarnya merupakan 3 galaksi yang berdekatan, dan memasukkan galaksi-galaksi tersebut dalam katalog sebagai NGC 68, NGC 70, dan NGC 71.
