Penthorum adalah genus tumbuhan dalam ordo Saxifragales. Tumbuhan ini berupa terna tumbuhan menahun tegak yang tingginya sekitar setengah meter. Genus ini terdiri dari dua spesies, satu berasal dari Asia timur dan satu lagi dari Amerika Utara bagian timur.[2] Genus ini diklasifikasikan secara beragam ke dalam famili Saxifragaceae[2] atau familinya sendiri, yaitu Penthoraceae.[1][4] Kerabat terdekatnya kemungkinan berada dalam famili Haloragaceae.[2]
