Alofi adalah ibu kota negara Niue. Penduduknya berjumlah 624 jiwa (2005).

Geografi

Kota ini terletak di pusat Alofi Bay di pantai barat pulau, dekat dengan istirahat hanya di terumbu karang yang mengelilingi Niue. Teluk ini membentang selama 30% dari panjang pulau (sekitar tujuh kilometer) dari Point Halagigie di selatan Point Makapu di utara. Hal ini juga dicatat bahwa Alofi mengandung pagar sikat gigi terbesar di dunia.

Kisah

Pada Januari 2004, Niue dilanda badai Cyclone Heta sengit tropis yang menewaskan dua orang dan menyebabkan kerusakan yang luas untuk seluruh pulau. Banyak bangunan yang hancur, termasuk rumah sakit. Gedung-gedung pemerintah yang bergeser ke situs yang kurang terkena 3 km dari pesisir barat, bernama Fonuakula, setelah badai. Situs ini masih dalam batas-batas desa Alofi Selatan.

Iklim

Alofi memiliki iklim hutan hujan tropis di bawah klasifikasi iklim Köppen, tanpa musim kering . Kota ini memiliki hamparan terasa lebih kering dari Juni hingga September. Namun, semua bulan rata-rata lebih dari 60 mm hujan, batas selama satu bulan musim kemarau. Seperti kota-kota lain dengan iklim ini, suhu rata-rata tetap relatif konstan sepanjang tahun, pada 25 derajat Celcius.
