Witney adalah kota pasar di Sungai Windrush di Oxfordshire Barat di wilayah Oxfordshire, Inggris. Letaknya 12 mil (19 km) di sebelah barat Oxford. Nama tempat "Witney" berasal dari bahasa Inggris Kuno untuk "Pulau Witta".[2] Catatan paling awal yang diketahui tentangnya adalah sebagai Wyttannige dalam piagam Saxon tahun 969. Buku Domesday tahun 1086 mencatatnya sebagai Witenie.
