Tey merupakan istri Kheperkheprure Ay (kadang-kadang "Aya"), yang adalah Firaun terakhir Mesir Kuno dinasti ke-18. Ia menjadi ibu susu Ratu Nefertiti.[1]
Suaminya, Ay mengisi peran penting di istana-istana beberapa firaun – Amenhotep III, Akhenaten dan Tutankhamun – sebelum naik takhta itu sendiri, karena garis keturunan keluarga kerajaan menjadi punah. Ia diyakini berkaitan dengan keluarga kerajaan; ia mungkin adalah saudara Ratu Tiye (istri Amenhotep III).
