Harry George Aveling (lahir 30 Maret 1942) adalah seorang penulis dan penerjemah Australia.

Biografi

Harry Aveling belajar di University of Sydney (Indonesian and Malayan Studies, Masters of Arts, 1966).[1] Ia pernah mengajar di Universitas Sydney (1963-1964), Universitas Monash (1965-1973), Universitas Murdoch (1976-1979) dan Universitas La Trobe, (Australia) [2]

Selain dinegaranya sendiri, Harry Aveling juga mengajar di negara-negara lain, yaitu, Indonesia, ia mengajar sastra bandingan di Universitas Indonesia, Jakarta (1970) dan menjabat sebagai Profesor Tamu bidang Studi Penerjemahan pada tahun 2006-2007. Pada akhir tahun 2010, ia juga mengajar di Sekolah Pascasarjana Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. Dan ia juga mengajar di Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang (1972-1975) serta di Universitas Ohio sebagai Adjunct Professor bidang Sastra Asia Tenggara sejak tahun 2002 dan merupakan Profesor Tamu Kehormatan selama Triwulan Musim Semi, 2011.[3]

Harry Aveling adalah Anggota Komite Studi Doktor untuk Fakultas Linguistik dan Sastra Inggris, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, dan mengajar di sana pada tahun 2008 dan 2009. Harry Aveling adalah Fellow dari Collegium Stockholm untuk Sejarah Sastra Dunia, Universitas Stockholm, yang mewakili Asia Tenggara. Dia adalah Presiden dari Asosiasi untuk Penerjemahan Sastra Australia, 2005-2008.[3]
