Doublespeak
Doublespeak atau bicara berbelit adalah pemilihan kata-kata dalam suatu bahasa yang dengan sengaja mengaburkan, menutupi, membelokkan, atau memutarbalikkan makna dari suatu kata, frasa, atau istilah. Doublespeak bisa berbentuk upaya untuk 'memperhalus' makna sesungguhnya (eufemisme), misalnya dengan menyebut istilah "perampingan" yang berarti pemecatan massal, "penataan" yang berarti penggusuran, atau "penyesuaian harga" yang berarti kenaikan harga. Eufemisme ini bertujuan membuat kata-kata yang memiliki makna negatif atau dapat memancing kontroversi terdengar/terkesan lebih baik, dapat diterima, atau lebih menyenangkan. Doublespeak juga mengacu pada ketaksaan sengaja dalam bahasa atau pembalikan makna untuk mengaburkan kenyataan. Doublespeak sering dikaitkan dengan bahasa politik.[1][2]
