Hi Pine, you had asked about Motivations for editing Wikipedia. I have collected graphs about that at de:user:Atlasowa/editor motivation, because it's an important question and almost everyone thinks about this at some time. Here are some answers:

Nomination for deletion of Template:BOE logo
Template:BOE logo has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the entry on the Templates for discussion page. – Jonesey95 (talk) 22:53, 11 October 2022 (UTC)

The article Now hear this (nautical command) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
This phrase does not appear to be notable; no reliable sources describing the phrase could be found except the single source already cited. Wikipedia is not a dictionary.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.EducatedRedneck (talk) 00:55, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

Welcome back!!
So good to see you—I don't think our peak times ever crossed, but I really appreciated the On The Bright Side columns in old Signpost editions. I imagine Clovermoss will be happy to see you are editing again :) HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 06:58, 7 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello HouseBlaster, thank you. I'm grateful that you remember that series. Clovermoss and I are in contact. You might like to preview User talk:Clovermoss#Canadian Rangers participate in Operation Enduring Encyclopedia, which I'm planning to include in the April issue of The Signpost. How are things on ENWP? Is everything going smoothly? ↠Pine (✉) 00:06, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
Things are going well on enwiki, though the backlogs are as backlogged as ever...
Glad to hear you are in touch with Clover, and I look forward to seeing that column in the April edition :) HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 07:06, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
- @HouseBlaster: thanks for the comment and for introducing yourself.
- If you have some suggestions about those which WMF could address, perhaps you'd like to comment on the meta:Wikimedia Foundation Annual Plan/2026-2027/Collaboration page.
- May I ask if, from your perspective, anything has gotten better socially or technically in the past few years? ↠Pine (✉) 02:44, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
- Great question. I'm not feeling amazing so I am limiting myself to Wikipedia matters which are relatively easy. I'll try to take a peak when I am feeling better (ideally by the weekend). Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 21:55, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
- @HouseBlaster: that sounds good. In case you're interested in a realtime audio/video discussion about the annual plan, I'm planning to have such a discussion in an April session of the meta:Wikimedia Café. Also see meta:Wikimedia Foundation Annual Plan/2026-2027/Collaboration#Co-created Community spaces. ↠Pine (✉) 02:31, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
Here we go. Socially, I think the biggest change is the enwiki community is better at blocking the WP:UNBLOCKABLES, and that is a long time coming. I couldn't tell you why this is, but it seems to be a big culture shift. Technically, multiblocks (the ability to layer blocks, such as an indefinite partial block plus a three day site block) and temporary accounts are two great initiatives from the WMF. I am also super appreciative of the work they did on Special:SuggestedInvestigations, which catches tons of ban actors.
Regarding the WMF, I think we are in a better place because they are better at actually listening to the concerns of the unpaid volunteers. There's still more to do, but this is a great improvement from where we were. Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 14:55, 16 March 2026 (UTC)- @HouseBlaster: thanks for the comments. I'm glad that things are improving. I too believe that WMF has gotten better at listening in the past few years, during Maryana's tenure as WMF CEO, and that this has reduced the frequency of clashes between WMF and non-WMF participants, although the time-intensive meta:Movement Charter process' outcome was disappointing. We'll see how things go with Maryana's successor Bernadette; I'm hopeful that Bernadette's professional background in international diplomacy will be an asset. Thanks again for the comments. ↠Pine (✉) 15:14, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi @HouseBlaster and Clovermoss: would either of you be interested in collaborating on the June installment of The Signpost for an "On the Bright Side" piece? ↠Pine (✉) 04:49, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
- I'll give Clover the right of first refusal on this, but I'd be happy to take a stab at something! (Or perhaps all three of us can work on it?) Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 04:50, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for being willing to participate. If the article is divided by weeks, there will be enough space for each person in a group of three to have at least one week for their comments. Dividing the piece by weeks is an easy option. An analogy would be how space is shared in a community garden. People can comment on more than one week, but I'd request that the visual space used for each week be similar regardless of how many people contribute content. As the piece develops we can get more specific with how the space is used. ↠Pine (✉) 04:59, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
- Maybe next month, I'm still fairly busy at the moment with certain things going on IRL. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 10:36, 19 May 2026 (UTC)
- @HouseBlaster and Clovermoss: okay. We can follow up on this. ↠Pine (✉) 01:20, 20 May 2026 (UTC)

| Hello again, friend! Here's a small token of gratitude for contributing in the Newsroom, in a column, or both! Vol. 22 issue 4 turned out pretty great thanks to a team that was fortunate to include you. ☆ Bri (talk) 05:23, 10 March 2026 (UTC) |
- Thanks, Bri. The Signpost is a lot more work behind the scenes than may be commonly known. I'm glad that you keep the ball rolling. ↠Pine (✉) 02:46, 11 March 2026 (UTC)

The page Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Next issue/From the editors has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done for the following reason:
WP:G6, no content - appears to be left over from a accidental non-supress-redirect move
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.
Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, or you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Sohom (talk) 17:50, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Sohom Datta: thank you for this maintenance cleanup, but I believe any deletions like this in the Signpost project space should be discussed on the newsroom talk page. There is a discussion about this specific piece at Wikipedia talk:Wikipedia Signpost/Newsroom#22:6 From the editors. While I would have suggested that the page be deleted, I would prefer that User:JPxG, or the person who runs the publication process for the upcoming issue, make that decision. ↠Pine (✉) 17:54, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- My deletion is purely procedural in nature, not a unilateral action wrt to the underlying discussion. I was following the discussion and saw your move but saw that you left a redirect and then blanked the page. This sequence of actions typically makes it harder to reverse moves since it means that to reverse your move, the EiC (or any other editor) would need to flag down a admin (or in JPxG's case use his admin powers) to delete the page first before moving the page back. I just performed the procedural action of deleting the page so that if folks (JPxG as the EiC or others) do want to reverse your action to publish the post, they will just need to move the page back. Sohom (talk) 18:04, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- @Sohom Datta: thanks for clarifying. This is fine with me. I hope that JPxG will soon publish the upcoming issue. ↠Pine (✉) 18:06, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

Delist and replace discussion of an image you nominated
Howdy - I've made a request on featured pictures candidates page to delist and replace a photo you originally nominated - Bierstadt's Among the Sierra Nevada, California. I think the photo as it is is incredibly yellowed compared to the actual painting, and that the replacement image (which was uploaded by the Smithsonian) is a better representation of the existing artwork. Would appreciate your input, as the original nominator, in the discussion. First time doing this, so apologies if anything isn't 100% by the book.
