Question from Герман Немов (21:51, 18 February 2026)
Dear sir Lew
I apologize for bothering you, but I'm having trouble again with documentation of non-English sources. I ask you to provide me, as an example, with any properly designed source referring to a book, a journal or a newspaper (with the indication of the author/authors, the publisher, the place of publication, etc.) It is preferable if the source contains Cyrillic or hieroglyps. --Герман Немов (talk) 21:51, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Герман Немов, it's no bother at all, I'm happy to help! :) Here's some examples I found in Ukraine and Russia, there's a few more there too

Questions from The Transhumanist (Wednesday, 18 February 2026)
Some more questions about AI...
A lot has happened in the last few months.
AI is advancing rapidly. It could be that we are already in the midst of an intelligence explosion, in that AI developers are using AI to improve AI. So, AI is, in a sense, already engaged in recursive self-improvement with the aid of humans.
Major software companies report that more than 25% of their code is AI-written, even higher for AI firms such as OpenAI and Anthropic. This of course, is driving the acceleration of AI, which is noticeably more capable each month.
Have you been using AI? Do you have a sense of the impact it will have on Wikipedia? What do you foresee?
Sincerely, — The Transhumanist 14:56, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hey @The Transhumanist, hope you're well!
- I don't use AI for anything Wikipedia-related as I still worry about the accuracy issues with factual texts and hallucinations, with the one exception of developing my Edit Requests Dashboard, I've used AI on one function there that was driving me crazy (although I found that was a battle to get it to do it right). I use AI sometimes at work, especially to help spot small issues in big texts and reword emails to make them sound more corporate which I find very helpful being new to that world.
- As for Wikipedia I think it will be used here more, but I still think many people here are cautious of it (myself included). Mainly due to the issues it can have with accuracy, and I found that AI sometimes tells me what I want to hear, not what is correct which stops me from adopting it more. I think that if AI is to be used here, it MUST be proof-read and fact-checked first.
- Hope that helps, Encoded Talk 💬 21:00, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
- I was thinking more along the lines of competition that AI could pose to Wikipedia over time: 1) Creation of AI-edited encyclopedias, with Grokipedia being an early example, and 2) the emergence of ability to produce treatments on any subject nearly instantaneously that rival Wikipedia articles in length, scope, articulation, and accuracy. The progression toward the latter is already costing Wikipedia significant traffic, as chatbots increasingly negate the need to consult Wikipedia for answers and topic-related information. Due to the resistance of the Wikipedia community to embrace AI, it does not look likely that Wikipedia the encyclopedia will be positioned to adapt to a rapidly approaching AI-powered society. I'm sure there are other factors I'm missing. In a nutshell, I guess the issue I'm groping for here is the "potential for Wikipedia to be leapfrogged", as it leapfrogged and obsoleted nearly all of the general encyclopedias that came before it. I'm trying to understand this issue and hone my articulation of it well enough to be able to start discussions at the Village Pump and Wikimedia forums. Any advice you can provide would be most appreciated, including ideas for titles to such threads. How's "How will Wikipedia be able to compete with AI-generated responses in the future?" It seems lacking. The main thing I want to avoid is starting discussions that devolve into debates on whether or not AI will ever be able to edit Wikipedia up to WP standards, as leapfrogging by external content generation apps competing with WP (and the loss of web traffic that that will cause) is the clearest existential threat to Wikipedia. That's the focus I'm shooting for. Suggestions? — The Transhumanist 01:51, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
- I think Wikipedia is such a big resource and a household name that it won't ever fade away in my opinion. I do think people will adapt which tools they use, but I don't think WP will disappear Encoded Talk 💬 22:30, 2 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi Encoded . I edited two pages of Pokémon episodes on 28 February 2026 and edited the episodes which were removed or banned from broadcasting on English episode television but i got a message saying that i violated some terms of editing the page. These episodes are banned from all Pokémon season league and i edited them saying that they were banned episodes and this was the message - Media Mender left a message on your talk page in "Welcome". Just advise me on how to go about this editing thing because if you check it here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pok%C3%A9mon:_Indigo_League there are some episodes missing and they are banned in English then it should be written as banned or N/A. it is available in Japanese with subtitles but people prefer it in English to hear so i am asking you this question. kindly suggest me on how to got about it.
- Hi @RakeshMGanesan, I'd recommend reaching out to Media Mender directly as I'm not too familiar with the topic myself. From what I can remember I believe N/A stands for "Not Aired" on here. If the banned episode was never aired I think it would be appropriate to add N/A, otherwise if it was aired but later banned I'm not too sure what the correct way is, apologies! Some Former NBA All Stars, later some Naismith Hall of Famers, then some selected to the 50 greatest players of all time now 75. Distinct recognition highlights the high regard of Fred Disco Browns, talent and potential being the youngest player and only active Pro Prospect early in his professional career. Inducted into Pro Rucker Hall of Fame (2007) and EBC (Entertainers Basketball Classic) At Rucker Park Hall of Fame 2021. At VCU 1981-83 playing under one of the most impressive coaching staffs (1979-85) in the nation, VCU in 6 years winning 4 Sunbelt Conference Regular Season Championships, 3 Sunbelt Conference Tournament Championships and 5 NCAA appearances losing 4 second round games by 2 points or less to teams that reached the final four. J.D. Barnett Head Coach, Assistants Tubby Smith, Dave Hobbs, Jim Snuffy Smith and Mike Sutton. Fred was one of Tubby Smiths first major recruits early in his career as an assistant at VCU. Alumni (VCU) noted on Ram Nation that Fred Brown was one of Coach Barnetts greatest shortcomings. Fred a creative, explosive guard at 6'4 with a 44-inch vertical and pro level potential was often stifled, played out of position but none the less remained a key contributor to nationally recognized VCU Teams that reached the NCAA Tournament. Tubby went on to win a NCAA National Championship and become one of college basketball's all-time great coaches. Dave Hobbs (Alabama) and Mike Sutton (Tennessee Tech) had success as Head coaches and later NBA Scouts. Beyond the court Fred Disco Brown continued to impact communities as an advisor, consultant and mentor to youth organizations, including programs that integrate basketball with life skills, supporting initiatives that promote education, inclusion and character development. Shaped by the influence of accomplished coaches, respected mentors and highly accomplished peers Fred Disco Brown emerged from one of the most competitive environments in the world. New York City's Legendary playground, NCAA Basketball, NBA Draft, International Sports, then the famed historical site Rucker Park. Fred Disco Brown should absolutely have a Wikipedia page and documented history available in one place, preserving his story. The published works section could do with filling in or removing, and I'd also remove any inline links to external websites as they are typically rejected, you can add an external links section at the bottom of the article (after references) for those. Advice? -uploading/inserting an image.
Hi,
I am seemingly having issues uploading images.. I have tried with test images that I created myself and as well with images of the woman whose biographical data I am working on (Sharon Solomon, M.D.) - which I got these images off the internet, publicly.
What have I done wrong? I uploaded one using the checkbox that I am the creator of the image. It got rejected.
I uploaded a few images (found on the World Wide Web) of Sharon Solomon, M.D. and posted the web reference from whence they came and still nothing shows in my uploads.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Doctor_Sharon_Solomon,_M.D. TheeCitationist (talk) 03:19, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @TheeCitationist, to be the creator of the image you need to have taken it yourself. The law around licensing of images is very strict and these rejections are purely to keep Wikipedia out of legal trouble. You'll need permission to use any images, or use images available on an accepted Creative Commons license (such as the ones on the upload page). If you have a link to any images I'd be happy to advise if they can be used or not. Thanks, Encoded Talk 💬 00:03, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
Question from Kipperzzcolon3 (22:01, 11 March 2026)
greetings, I recently changed a reference link on this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judo_at_the_2000_Summer_Paralympics_%E2%80%93_Men%27s_60_kg specifically the first one and I'm wondering if there was a way I could improve the citation since I wasn't able to find when the new website was published so I instead just used the retrieval date. I would like to make sure I am doing this correctly before I go on and try to fix other pages using the old website as a reference. --Kipperzzcolon3 (talk) 22:01, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Kipperzzcolon3, thanks for helping to fill in references! I had a look at the site linked in the reference and also could not find a publish date, which does happen as not every website shows this. In these cases, we have no way to know when it was published and just leave it blank, which means you did the right thing in just updating the retrieval date! Thanks, Encoded Talk 💬 00:05, 12 March 2026 (UTC)

She has published numerous books of poetry, fiction, and scholarly studies addressing themes of peace, women's rights, and relations between Jews and Arabs in the Middle East. Early life and education Ada Aharoni was born in Cairo, Egypt, and later immigrated to Israel with her family during the period of Jewish migration from Arab countries in the mid-twentieth century. The experience of displacement and cultural transition later became a central theme in several of her literary works. She pursued higher education in the United Kingdom and Israel. Aharoni received academic degrees from the University of London and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where she studied sociology, literature, and international relations. Academic and literary career Aharoni has worked as a sociologist, lecturer, and writer focusing on intercultural relations and peace studies. Her academic and literary work explores the social and cultural dimensions of conflict and reconciliation in the Middle East. She has published more than thirty books including poetry collections, novels, research works, and edited volumes. Her poetry frequently addresses themes of peace, human dignity, and women's empowerment. Please restore my original Account - Ada Aharoni - exactly the way it was - before your encoding - edited on 12 March 2026, at 13:50 (UTC). The layout of the encodng of the updated text for 2026 should respect Headings in Capital letters and have gaps between the sections, so that it lookks professional. Thank you for your corrections. Question
What is the difference between anon editing and logged in users? Qwerty ui is op (talk) 21:21, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Qwerty ui is op, anon editors are temporary accounts, whereas logged in users are permanent. That means logged in users can keep the attribution for their edits to their accounts permanently, and can gain additional privileges that come with editing over time. Since temporary accounts are temporary, they are typically unable to get these. For more information about temporary accounts please see Wikipedia:Temporary accounts. Question from Kipperzzcolon3 (07:14, 16 March 2026)
Greetings I have another question about updating reference links. If I were to find a reference that links to a page that no longer works but does work on the wayback machine, how should I update that reference? Thank you in advance for answering the question. --Kipperzzcolon3 (talk) 07:14, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Kipperzzcolon3, if you're in edit page, click on the [citation], you should see an 'Archive URL' field in the popup menu, if you can't see it take a look in the field list on the left in case it is not selected. Paste the archive.org link in there. Alternatively, you can create a new reference using the archive.org link. Whichever method you use Wikipedia will switch to using the archive link. Hope this helps, Encoded Talk 💬 20:56, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

- Hi @R 1038289, unfortunately Wikipedia doesn't tend to keep track of drafts very well, I'd recommend looking in your contributions list if you lose one. You can also pop a link to them on your user page so you don't lose them in the future. Hope this helps, Encoded Talk 💬 20:57, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Picadae (14:35, 9 April 2026)
Hey Encoded. My first edit was fixing a citation where I think originally it took a user to a specific page, but it actually took the user to a generic database where the article was located. I fixed the link to take the user to the specific article. My question is whether this qualifies as a major or minor change. I left it as a major change, but would appreciate guidance on whether that was correct or not.
Thanks,
Picadae --Picadae (talk) 14:35, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Picadae, apologies for the delay in getting back to you. This would be considered a minor change since it was a formatting fix, but it's not a problem that it was left as a major edit!
