W33A adalah sebuah protobintang yang terletak sekitar 12.000 tahun cahaya dari Bumi, di dalam rasi bintang Sagittarius. Sebagai bintang pada tahap awal pembentukan, objek ini menarik minat para astronom, yang mengamati bahwa sementara protobintang ini mengakumulasi material dari awan gas dan debu di sekitarnya, ia juga secara bersamaan melontarkan pancaran partikel yang bergerak cepat dari kutub utara dan selatannya.[2]
