Synthwave (juga disebut outrun, microwave, atau futuresynth[5]) adalah mikrogenre musik elektronik yang sebagian besar didasarkan pada musik yang terkait dengan soundtrack film aksi, fiksi ilmiah, dan horor tahun 1980-an.[2] Pengaruh lain diambil dari seni dan video game dekade ini.[3] Musisi synthwave sering mendukung nostalgia budaya tahun 1980-an dan berusaha menangkap suasana era tersebut dan merayakannya.[9]
