Rotheca adalah sebuah genus tumbuhan berbunga dalam keluarga Lamiaceae.[1] Perkiraan jumlah spesiesnya bervariasi, mulai dari sekitar 35 [2] hingga 60 spesies.[1] Tiga di antara spesiesnya berasal dari Asia tropis, dan sisanya terdapat di Afrika Sub-Sahara.[2] spesies tipe dalam genus ini adalah Rotheca serrata (Senggugu) yang pada awaknya bernama Rotheca ternifolia, tetapi sekarang dianggap tidak sah.[3]
Spesies Rotheca myricoides berasal dari Afrika Timur tropis dan dibudidayakan sebagai tanaman hias di seluruh daerah tropis.[4] Tumbuhan tersebut berasal dari Asia tropis dan biasa dijadikan sebagai tanaman obat disana.[2]
