Rhodiola adalah genus tumbuhan menahun dalam famili Crassulaceae[1] yang menyerupai genus Sedum dan anggota famili Crassulaceae lainnya. Seperti Sedum, spesiesnya sering disebut stonecrop. Beberapa penulis menggabungkan Rhodiola menjadi Sedum.[2][3]
Spesiesnya tumbuh di dataran tinggi dan daerah dingin lainnya di Belahan Bumi Utara.[4] Plants of the World Online memberikan jumlah spesies yang diterima sebanyak 74,[5] Angiosperm Phylogeny Website memberikannya sebanyak 90,[1] dan Flora of China memberikannya sekitar 90, dengan 55 di Cina dan 16 endemik di sana.[4] Flora of North America hanya mencantumkan tiga spesies di Amerika Serikat dan Kanada.[6]
