Ravenea moorei adalah spesies palem. Tumbuhan ini endemik di Komoro. Spesies ini terancam punah secara kritis, dengan hanya dua spesimen dewasa yang terakhir tercatat pada tahun 1993.[1] Pada tahun 2023, populasi kecil ditemukan oleh para peneliti dari Kew Gardens.[2]
Etimologi
Ravenea moorei dinamai oleh John Dransfield dan Natalie Uhl untuk menghormati pakar botani palem terkemuka, Harold E. Moore.[3]
Deskripsi
Ravenea moorei tumbuh sebagai pohon dengan tinggi antara 15 dan 20 m. Batangnya berwarna abu-abu atau cokelat, dengan diameter antara 11 dan 35 cm. Individu memiliki antara 11 hingga 19 daun hijau di tajuknya, masing-masing berukuran panjang antara 2 dan 3 m serta lebar 70 cm, dengan 60 hingga 80 anak daun yang lebih kecil tumbuh dari rakis. Perbungaannya menyerupai sikat dan muncul dari sela-sela daun. Spesies ini bersifat dioesius.[2]
Buahnya berwarna kuning-oranye, berdaging, berdiameter 16 mm, dan berisi satu biji bulat berwarna cokelat tua.
Jangkauan dan habitat
Satu-satunya spesimen Ravenea moorei yang tercatat di alam liar ditemukan di Grande Comore, di hutan hujan pada ketinggian antara 700 dan 1000 m. Penampakan baru-baru ini terjadi di Gunung Karthala.[4]
