Pometia atau puletan adalah genus dari 6 spesies pohon hutan hujan yang merupakan bagian dari famili Sapindaceae.[1] Nama genus ini ditunjukan untuk menghormati Pierre Pomet (1658–1699), seorang apoteker asal Prancis.[2] Genus ini pertama kali dijelaskan dan diterbitkan di Char. Gen. Pl. halaman 109 pada tahun 1776.[1]
Persebaran & Habitat
Genus ini tumbuh di Asia tropis dan subtropis, dan di Pasifik Selatan. Ditemukan di daratan Cina selatan, Pulau Hainan dan Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Kepulauan Andaman, Laos, Myanmar, Kepulauan Nicobar, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Kepulauan Bismarck, Papua Nugini, Kepulauan Solomon, Fiji, Niue, Samoa, Kepulauan Santa Cruz, Tonga, Tuamotu, Vanuatu dan Kepulauan Wallis-Futuna.[1] Genus ini kemudian diperkenalkan ke Kepulauan Cook, Kepulauan Marquesas (Polinesia) dan Kepulauan Marshall.[1] Mereka ditemukan di hutan hujan[3] dan hutan musiman tropis.[4]
