Mucor adalah sebuah genus mikroba yang mencakup sekitar 40 spesies kapang dan jamur dimorfik dalam famili Mucoraceae.[1][2][3] Genus ini mencakup spesies patogen dan avirulen, dan beberapa di antaranya dapat diterapkan dalam bioteknik.[4] Fungi-fungi ini umum ditemukan di tanah, sistem pencernaan, permukaan tumbuhan, beberapa keju seperti Tomme de Savoie, tumbuhan membusuk dan di residu besi oksida pada proses biosorpsi.

Koloni genus ini biasanya berwarna kuning, krem atau kelabu.[5] Fungi ini dicirikan dengan pertumbuhan serta sporulasinya yang cepat di lingkungan yang aktivitas airnya tinggi. Mereka bereproduksi secara seksual dan aseksual.[4]
