Marella adalah jenis artropoda yang berasal dari Kambrium Tengah. Fosilnya umum ditemukan di Batu Burgess di Inggris Raya.

Sejarah

Marella adalah fosil pertama yang ditemukan oleh Charles Doolittle Walcott di Batu Burgess, pada 1909.[1] Walcott mendeskripsikan spesimen ini secara informal sebagai "kepiting tali sepatu/lace crab", serta mendeskripsikannya secara lebih formal sebagai sejenis trilobit yang aneh. Pada 1971, Whittington meredeskripsikan hewan ini. Dilihat dari bentuk kaki, insang dan kepalanya, dia memutuskan bahwa Marella bukanlah trilobita, chelicerata, maupun krustasea.[2]

Spesimen mirip Marella juga ditemukan di deposit Kambrium hingga Devon lainnya.[3]
