Inosina merupakan nukleosida purina yang dibentuk oleh hipoksantina terikat dengan ribosa.[1]Senyawa ini pertama kali ditemukan pada tahun 1965 oleh Robert William Holley di tRNA,[2] Inosina dapat ditemukan tRNA pada pada posisi 34, 37 dan 57 urutan basa yang merupakan hasil deaminasi yang dikatalisis oleh Adenosina deaminase di tRNA.[3]
