Karakteristik

Ensete memiliki pelepah daun yang besar menyerupai pisang berdaun liontin dan ditutupi tangkai daun besar berwarna merah muda. Bunganya mekar sekali pada bagian tengah tumbuhan di akhir hidupnya, dan yang paling penting adalah umbinya karena dijadikan bahan makanan. Sedangkan buahnya tidak bisa dimakan dan bijinya yang keras, hitam, dan bulat.
