Buki

Buki (Bukki; bahasa Ibrani: בֻּקִּי‎ Buqqî, "terbukti; teruji") mungkin merupakan Imam Besar Israel kuno. Ada Buki lain yang disebutkan dalam Kitab Bilangan sebagai pemimpin dalam suku Dan.

Buki disebutkan dalam kitab 1 Tawarikh (6:4) dan Ezra (7:4) sebagai putra Imam besar Abisua, imam kelima dalam garis keturunan Eleazar. Dalam Apocrypha (2 Esdras 1:2), namanya tercantum sebagai Borith dan dalam 1 Esdras 8:2, ia disebut Boccas. Menurut Yosefus (Antiquities of the Jews 5.10.5; 8.1.3) dan sumber-sumber di luar Alkitab lainnya, ia menggantikan ayahnya sebagai Imam besar.

Ia diidentifikasi hidup sezaman dengan Imam Besar orang Samaria, Bakhi.

Etimologi

Nama pribadi ini merupakan kependekan dari Bukkiah, artinya, "Yahweh terbukti"[1]
