Boops boops (/ˈboʊ.ɒps/; dari Bahasa Yunani Kuno βόωψ, secara harfiah berarti "bermata lembu"), umum dikenal sebagai ikan bogue, adalah sebuah spesies ikan Sparidae yang berasal dari Atlantik timur.[2]
Distribusi dan Habitat
Spesies ini dapat ditemukan di lepas pesisir Eropa, Afrika, Azores dan Kepulauan Canaria, dari Norwegia ke Angola, dan di Laut Mediterania dan Hitam. Ikan ini menghindari perairan payau seperti Laut Baltik. Sebuah pemakan demersal dan semi-pelagik, umumnya ikan ini dapat ditemukan di kedalaman 100 m, hingga 350 m, meski jarang.[3]
