Basutoland adalah sebuah koloni Mahkota Inggris yang didirikan pada 1884 karena ketidakmampuan Tanjung Harapan untuk mengatur kawasan tersebut. Koloni tersebut terbagi dalam tujuh distrik administratif; Berea, Leribe, Maseru, Mohales Hoek, Mafeteng, Qacha's Nek dan Quthing.
Basutoland berganti nama menjadi Kerajaan Lesotho saat meraih kemerdekaan dari Britania Raya pada 4 Oktober 1966.
