Profil di BWF

Shin Baek-cheol (Hangul신백철; lahir 19 Oktober 1989) adalah pemain bulutangkis ganda campuran dan ganda putra dari Korea Selatan.[2] Ia adalah Juara Dunia, Asia dan Dunia Junior, serta peraih medali emas di Asian Games dan Summer Universiade.

Karier

Shin mulai bermain bulu tangkis pada usia 8 tahun di Sekolah Dasar Wallgot. Dia kemudian menjadi anggota tim bulu tangkis Universitas Olahraga Nasional Korea sebelum pindah ke Balai Kota Gimcheon pada tahun 2012.[2] Pada bulan Februari 2009, Shin menggantikan Jung Jae-sung sebagai rekan Lee Yong-dae. Mereka menjuarai Jerman Terbuka setelah mengalahkan Kenichi Hayakawa dan Kenta Kazuno dari Jepang.[3] Shin dan rekan ganda campurannya, Yoo Hyun-young, mencapai final Swiss Terbuka pada bulan Maret. Mereka kalah dari unggulan kedua Lee Yong-dae dan Lee Hyo-jung 14-21 dan 18-21.[4] Ia juga meraih medali emas di Asian Games Guangzhou 2010 di nomor ganda campuran berpasangan dengan Lee Hyo-jung.[5]

Pada Kejuaraan Dunia Kopenhagen 2014, Dia dan rekannya Ko Sung-hyun menciptakan salah satu kejutan terbesar dalam sejarah final kejuaraan dunia bulu tangkis dengan kemenangan atas rekan senegaranya, Lee Yong-dae dan Yoo Yeon-seong 22–20, 21–23, 21–18.[6]

Pada bulan Oktober 2016, BWF mengumumkan pengunduran diri Shin Baek-cheol.[7] Shin sebenarnya mengumumkan bahwa ia meninggalkan tim nasional Korea sebelum Olimpiade Rio 2016, namun ia tidak mengonfirmasi bahwa ia pensiun dari bulu tangkis.[8] Setelah pensiun, Shin tidak lagi memenuhi syarat untuk mengikuti turnamen peringkat internasional BWF hingga ia menginjak usia 31 tahun, berdasarkan peraturan dari Asosiasi Bulu Tangkis Korea. Shin dan rekannya Ko Sung-hyun kemudian mengajukan perintah ke pengadilan tinggi Seoul dengan menolak peraturan BKA.[9] Pada Mei 2018, Shin dan Ko akhirnya mendapat kesempatan berlaga di turnamen internasional, setelah memenangkan pertarungan hukum selama satu tahun melawan BKA.[10]

The BWF World Tour, which was announced on 19 March 2017 and implemented in 2018,[11] is a series of elite badminton tournaments sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF). The BWF World Tour is divided into levels of World Tour Finals, Super 1000, Super 750, Super 500, Super 300 (part of the HSBC World Tour), and the BWF Tour Super 100.[12]

BWF Superseries (2 titles, 2 runners-up)

The BWF Superseries, which was launched on 14 December 2006 and implemented in 2007,[13] was a series of elite badminton tournaments, sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF). BWF Superseries levels were Superseries and Superseries Premier. A season of Superseries consisted of twelve tournaments around the world that had been introduced since 2011.[14] Successful players were invited to the Superseries Finals, which were held at the end of each year.
