San Francisco, September xx, 2010

I am delighted to write this letter on behalf of Covan Giovanni Tedjomuljo, to outline his significant contribution as a participant in "Bebaskan Pengetahuan 2010" (Free Your Knowledge 2010), a writing competition for Wikipedia Indonesia, from April 1 to June 16, 2010.

The "Bebaskan Pengetahuan 2010" (BP2010) is a three month program developed by Wikimedia Indonesia to leverage public participation to improve Wikipedia articles in Indonesian language. It is a pilot project to introduce the Wikimedia mission "Free Knowledge" worldwide. The ultimate goal is to provide an open source of information for everyone. The competition targets talented young writers from Universities and partners with mainstream media. By providing information and inspiring discourse, Wikimedia is hoping to promote a stronger demand for improved information and increased community participation from the local to national level.

Covan was introduced to the program by Wikimedia Indonesia's letter of invitation. The letter was distributed internally to several student organizations. His application to enroll in the competition was later confirmed by one of his lecturers, Stephen Suleeman. Each university was permitted to submit no more than nine of its best students as participants on behalf of the University. As one of the chosen nine, Covan competed on behalf of the Jakarta Theological Seminary (Sekolah Tinggi Teologi Jakarta). According to the Project Director supervisor Siska Doviana, during his three months competition, Covan was a hard working and persistent participant. He also shows a strong desire to grow and improve. The Jury also responded with positive feedback, noting that Covan's articles were interesting to read.

Covan successfully wrote 27 (twenty-seven) high-quality articles within 72 days of competition. Covan's long and short articles were consistent, covering specific topics including high-profile Christian reformers, theologians, and saints. Covan's hard work culminated in the successful completion of the competition; he became one of only seventeen participants (out of an initial 90) who managed to complete the demanding three-month competition.

We would like to congratulate Covan for his achievement and his tireless work to improving and creating articles. Wikimedia wishes him success in his future endeavors.

Sincerely,
Sue Gardner
Executive Director Wikimedia Foundation
