Dayanand Saraswati pronunciationⓘ (bahasa Hindi: स्वामी दयानन्द सरस्वती, bahasa Gujarat: મહષિૅ દયાનંદ સરસ્વતી Maharshi Dayānand Sarasvatī) lahir (12 Februari 1824 – 30 Oktober 1883),[2] di Tankara[3] adalah pemimpin agama Hindu berpengaruh pada waktu itu. Ia dikenal sebagai pendiri Arya Samaj, sebuah gerakan reformasi Hindu dari tradisi Weda.
Kehidupan awal
Dayanand Saraswati lahir pada 12 Februari 1824 di Tankara, dekat Morbi di wilayah Kathiawad (sekarang distrik Rajkot di Gujarat). Nama aslinya adalah Mool Shankar. Nama ayahnya adalah Karshanji Lalji Tiwari dan nama ibunya adalah Yashodabai.
