What exactly is an interpunct? Anyone feel like finding out?
Hopefully this is a good place to post a general inquiry like this. In a recent conversation (initially about Unicode, but later of more general applicability), User:JMF and I have begun to suspect that Interpunct is a little too hasty to conflate interpuncts and middle dots. This could bear on whether that page gets split or how its sections are written, etc. Personally I suspect the state of play in the world today is that "interpunct" means any word separator (possibly only in Latin script?) but also that "interpunct" is also a term for the middle dot. But it would be nice to find and arrange a lot of RSes to figure out what we're dealing with. If you'd like to help with that, that would be cool 🙂. (n.b.: I say "help" here but I'm probably not going to contribute more than I already have, anytime soon.) Dingolover6969 (talk) 09:16, 10 May 2026 (UTC)
