Our scope is to create a high-quality body of major articles that cover the most important aspects of Romance in an encyclopedic way. The primary scope encompasses any article directly regarding fictional romance. This includes the following types of articles:

• Novels, short stories if notable
• Other types of romantic fiction: comics, film, television, video games, etc.
• Fictional aspects of fictional romance narratives, such as characters/people if notable
• non-fiction material directly associated to fictional romance, including but not limited to:
  • documentaries
  • literature (books, collections, journals, essays)
• biographical articles that are directly associated to fictional romance (authors)
• publishers, e.g. Harlequin
• Bibliographies, e.g. Nora Roberts bibliography

Promote the project

• Join this project! Add yourself to the list, and add the userbox to your page, to advertise the project to people who happen to pass by.
• Invite people to the project – drop a note using our handy template on the user talk page of editors working on Romance topics who aren't project members.

• Update the project pages, archive clutter, and make use of the latest automation available
• Consult the WikiProject Guide for ideas, or come up with new ones

There is a lot of information involved in writing and maintaining quality articles. The following pages should help focus your search for creating and maintaining our project's articles

• Wikipedia:WikiProject Romance/Creating a new article - Notability guidelines are strict. Not every published author or book needs to be on Wikipedia. Learn what constitutes notability and how to create your page.
• Wikipedia:WikiProject Romance/References - Articles must be cited with reliable sources. Learn what constitutes a reliable source, as well as a helpful list of romance industry sources. Includes a how-to cite guide.
• Wikipedia:WikiProject Romance/Style guides - Articles have a better chance of ranking higher in assessment if it conforms to known style guides.

This project will aim to improve the quality and breadth of articles in the romance category and its subcategories using an assessment process. Project members are urged to take an active role in reviewing and identifying articles about romance.

The main To Do item for the Assessment division of this project is to assess the articles that are currently unassessed. It is also important to regularly check that the assessments of assessed articles are still appropriate, and to attend to requests for re-assessment posted to the main WikiProject Romance/Assessment page.
