National Premier Leagues distinguish?

Do you want to repost your queries about this to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football for further comment? Not enough people watch, or perhaops care, about the Australian component. Matilda Maniac (talk) 22:46, 31 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for such a late reply, short answer: no; I feel like this can be easily solved in the Australia task force if we're talking about an Australian league. Just need to try and spread the attention to the Australia task force. FastCube (talk) 11:30, 5 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

CSD C1 notices

Hello, FastCube,

I stopped posting notifications for empty categories as you create so many categories, I didn't want your User talk page to get overwhelmed. You can see what they are by scanning my CSD log at User:Liz/CSD log#November 2025.

However, I'm not sure why you converted so many unneeded categories to category redirects rather than just allowing them to be deleted. Category redirects aren't used very frequently and I imagine that most editors aren't even aware that they exist. But you know football, I don't, so do what you think is best. Liz Read! Talk! 04:28, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Ok yes thank you, was a lot to mark off. The moving from "international" to "continental" categories was based on a mistake I made with club competitions being part of "international" categories, when they're only meant for national teams. And I will always make sure that when doing this, there's zero empty categories; if not, I will have to redirect them. FastCube (talk) 04:31, 9 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Categories

Hello, FastCube,

Please do not "blank" category pages, even if they have been emptied. It can be important for the CSD tagger to see what other categories they are part of. Thank you for stopping this blanking pages. 17:46, 15 December 2025 (UTC)

Title country template

Can you please stop using this when creating categories and instead type the country name? The bots and tools that fix redirects can't automatically fix wrong categories and so they have to be edited manually. If you put the country name in directly this saves everyone time. Timrollpickering (talk) 11:09, 23 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

So I can't use those templates on mainspace categories, and they're essentially only meant for the category templates? (e.g. Template:YYYY in nationality women's sport category header) FastCube (talk) 13:08, 25 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
They're a general problem because they stop the system using the correct category. Typing it manually saves time all round. Timrollpickering (talk) 10:30, 30 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Category:USASA National Women's Amateur, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. please review categorization polices for eponymous categories. No edit summaries

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to set Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary (or the default undo summary). Thanks! Liz Read! CFD/CSD C1

Hello, FastCube,

I noticed when I came to delete a number of empty categories that were tagged CSD C1 that since the day they were tagged for speedy deletion, you had included them in a CFD discussion (Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2026 January 23#International club association football competitions by host).

In the future, if you come upon other empty categories tagged CSD C1, either leave them out of the CFD discussion and don't include them or remove the CSD C1 tag whenever you place a CFD tag on to the category page. It might take an extra minute but it reduces confusion for other editors to have a page only be part of one deletion process. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:12, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah my apologies, I changed my mind to do a CfD afterwards as there's so many categories to go through. FastCube (talk) 01:14, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, FastCube. This message concerns the Articles for Creation submission or draft page you started, "Football at the 1972 Summer Olympics – Men's European Qualifiers – First round".

Drafts that go unedited for six months are eligible for deletion, in accordance with our draftspace policy, and this one has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission, and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you read this, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the draft so you can continue to work on it.

Edit warring

Stop icon You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war, according to the reverts you've made to Oxford United F.C.. This means that you are repeatedly reverting content back to how you think it should be, despite knowing that other editors disagree. Once it is known that there is a disagreement, users are expected to collaborate with others, avoid editing disruptively, and try to reach a consensus – rather than repeatedly reverting the changes made by other users.

Important points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive behavior – regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not engage in edit warring – even if you believe that you are right.

You need to discuss the disagreement on the article's talk page and work towards a revision that represents consensus among everyone involved. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution if discussions reach an impasse. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to engage in edit warring, you may be blocked from editing. GiantSnowman 20:44, 29 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I did not make more than one revert on Oxford United F.C. I made only one as you can see here on this page which is clearly not in breach of the three-revert rule. FastCube (talk) 02:58, 30 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

April 2026

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to change the title of a page by cutting its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. June 2026

Information icon Before adding a category to an eponymous category, as you did at Category:Turkish Women's Football Super League, please make sure that the category is appropriate under Wikipedia's categorization guidelines and is consistent with WP:EPONYMOUS.

An eponymous category is a category named after a subject that contains pages associated with that subject. For example, an eponymous category about a person, place, organization, or work may contain articles about related people, events, works, history, or other topics connected with that subject, not just the main article itself.

Because of that, adding a category to an eponymous category means that the added category should make sense for the contents of the eponymous category as a whole, not just for the subject it is named after. In general, the added category should apply to all or nearly all of the pages in the eponymous category.

For example, a category such as establishments in YEAR may apply to the subject itself, but usually will not apply to every page in the eponymous category, so it is usually not appropriate to add it there. Please also make sure that any category you add already exists. Categories that do not meet these requirements may be removed. Thank you. SMasonGarrison 03:53, 4 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Category renames

If you wish to rename a category, please follow the process at WP:CFDS. Manual redirection destroys the history and does not move the contents; the redirect bot is for catching articles in wrongly named categories not backdoor renames. Timrollpickering (talk) 15:03, 4 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]

For the base categories (at Category:Domestic association football leagues by season) where I'm adding a missing word (e.g. "in"), sure that's for WP:CFDS because it doesn't change the meaning of the category. But for the cases of adding the word "domestic" in these categories, that is a case where the category names ARE wrongly titled and will use manual category redirects, because they don't align properly with its parent categories/what the categories are actually about. My process isn't mostly about the renaming, but rather more about correcting its placements. FastCube (talk) 15:18, 4 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I feel like you're missing the point that Tim is raising here. SMasonGarrison 16:08, 4 June 2026 (UTC)[reply]
