Notice Coming here to ask why I deleted your article? Read this page first...

If that doesn't help, read these FAQs.

1. Why did you delete my page when I hadn't finished writing it?

Answer: Don't create new articles unless you are sure they meet wikipedia's criteria, particularly notability and verifiability. If you want to practice, there is the sandbox facility and Wikipedia:Articles for creation where you can get a second opinion from a more experienced contributor. And if you really can't help yourself, use {{underconstruction}} so other people will know you are still working on it.

2. Why did you delete my page for advertising? I wasn't trying to advertise!

Answer: Read Wikipedia:NPOV for guidance on how to word an article so that it doesn't sound like an advertisement.

3. Why did you delete my page for advertising? It was about a non-profit organisation!

Answer: Non-profit organisations advertise all the time - it's still promotion and the rule applies to them just as it does to commercial bodies. See no 2 above.

4. Why did you delete my article without warning?

Answer: Because you are not entitled to a warning if you don't follow the guidelines. See no 1 above.

5. Why didn't you do a google search and find references for my article and put them in for me instead of just deleting it?

Answer: Because I don't have time to do the boring bits for you. I have enough boring bits of my own to work on, thank you.

6. You have a very interesting view of neutrality. The authors you give credence to have a definite point of view and you discount those that disagree.

Answer: There is of course no answer because this is not a question. It's a snide comment added by someone who doesn't understand the NPOV rule. Possibly a Ricardian revisionist.

And please SIGN YOUR POSTS, otherwise I don't know who is asking me the question!

Arbitration

  • After a motion, arbitration enforcement page protections no longer need to be logged in the AELOG. A bot now automatically posts protections at WP:AELOG/P. To facilitate this bot, protection summaries must include a link to the relevant CT page (e.g. [[WP:CT/BLP]]), and you will receive talk page reminders if you forget to specify the contentious topic but otherwise indicate it is an AE action.

Block evasion

Hi Deb. I just noticed evidence of block evasion with an account you blocked, Tzmediahouse. They created Draft:Ebonny Musik, which you deleted as G11 and blocked them. The next day, another account popped up - TzolaTz - and recreated the same draft. Hardly coincidence, I think. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 22:37, 8 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Contesting Speedy Deletion

Deb I want to challenge your speedy deletion here, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghulam_Rasool_Dehlvi as I beleive that subject atleast passes; WP: Basic ; and A4 does not applicable here as it was significantly different from the deleted version, as far as I can see from Wikipedia mirror website. Please undelete it per contested Deletion and allow me to work there; and will be happy if you allow independent adminstrator to make their judgement. 121.46.87.82 (talk) 13:38, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It was completely different from the decade old 2016 version. So A4 no longer applies there. 121.46.87.82 (talk) 14:08, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In a way you're correct in saying that it was significantly different from the deleted version. In fact, it was shorter than the original version, with fewer references, so it's very unlikely to meet the inclusion criteria. However, I could restore it to draft. You don't seem to have edited previously, so you should practise before you start trying to create articles. Deb (talk) 14:09, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sure; 121.46.87.82 (talk) 14:29, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
In this way I will also get enough time to improve it in draft space. 121.46.87.82 (talk) 14:30, 18 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Deb Hey, it seems you forgot to restore the requested draft? 121.46.87.82 (talk) 12:44, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Have you done any practice yet? Deb (talk) 12:46, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What? I don't need any practice to make edits in the draft space. You are unnecessarily extending the process? 121.46.87.82 (talk) 12:47, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What's the great rush? Do you have a conflict of interest? Deb (talk) 12:52, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No great rush? My request is idle for the past 25 hours? 121.46.87.82 (talk) 12:52, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You may be under the impression that I have nothing else to do but respond to your requests. I consider this to be low priority, and you could be doing something useful while you are waiting. Deb (talk) 12:56, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Deb; I have tried to improve the draft following your advice above; I think that things have changed in the decade and Subject do pass WP:Basic at the moment. Requesting you to send this back to main space per WP:DRAFTOBJECT. Thanks.121.46.87.246 (talk) 07:57, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I will be happy if you will allow independent new page patroller or admin to patrol this in main space. Regards 121.46.87.246 (talk) 08:13, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Not in mainspace, in draft. Follow the instructions to submit it for review. Deb (talk) 08:27, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Deb You Can't force me to bound with AFC; as it is not a compulsory process; if you think it still needs significant improvements then please let me know so that I can improve a bit more before it is moved to main space. Just wanted to say you that I am skipping AFC here. Thanks 121.46.87.246 (talk) 08:30, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You're a brand-new user and you should go through the normal process. You've flatly refused to practise editing, which leads me to the conclusion that you do have a connection with the subject that you haven't declared; nevertheless I've given you a second chance, so use it wisely. Deb (talk) 08:35, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:BUREAUCRACY . I have no connection with the subject hence declaring no conflict of interest. Although you can assume anything you like but you can't impose your wishes on others. See What Wikipedia is not. 121.46.87.246 (talk) 08:39, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Please follow the correct procedure as instructed. Deb (talk) 08:45, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I am not bound to AFC. Either send this to main space or recommend changes to improve the draft. 121.46.87.246 (talk) 08:46, 25 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Guide to temporary accounts

Hello, Deb. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.

Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.

How do temporary accounts work?

Editing from a temporary account
  • When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern: ~2025-12345-67 (a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5).
  • All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
  • A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
  • As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
    • There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
    • There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.

Temporary account IP viewer user right

How to enable IP Reveal

Impact for administrators

  • It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects the autoblock option.
  • It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
  • Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. On Special:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should use Special:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).

Rules about IP information disclosure

  • Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access is generally not allowed (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or ~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
  • Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward 3RR, but not Hey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67)
  • See Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer § What can and can't be said for more detailed guidelines.

Useful tools for patrollers

  • It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via the User Info card, available in Preferences → Appearance → Advanced options → Tick Enable the user info card
    • This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
  • Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.
  • Similarly, Special:GlobalContributions supports global search for a given temporary account's activity.
  • The auto-reveal feature (see video below) allows users with the right permissions to automatically reveal all IP addresses for a limited time window.

Draftification of Draft:Radhika Bhide

Hi there! I wanted to reach out because I noticed your double-draftification of Draft:Radhika Bhide. The first time you draftified the article, you provided the rationale that the article was moved from draft without review by inexperienced user. However, autoconfirmed users are not required to submit their draft articles through AfC. Additionally, this does not meet any of the criteria listed at WP:DRAFTREASON. The second time you draftified the article, you indicated that the editor's move out of draftspace was an instance of WP:MOVEVANDAL. Though you didn't provide a rationale, I presume you thought this was vandalism because you find the editor too inexperienced to move their article out of draftspace. However, as stated above, this is an invalid draftification reason. Further, this marks an invalid draftification per WP:DRAFTOBJECT, given that page creators are allowed to object to the draftification of their article (unless they have a COI). As such, I have reverted your second draftification as invalid. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 21:02, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Also, looking at the editor's talk page, I see that you didn't notify them about the draftification either time. This is all very bitey behaviour. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 21:08, 11 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Significa liberdade And the worst part here is they have admin protected the page. Weird enough. Also see other concerns raised by @Deepfriedokra, @Chaotic Enby and @User:Pppery ~2025-32933-07 (talk) 00:58, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Link to concerns I raised would jog my memory. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 01:25, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not seeing any page protection. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 01:42, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Twinkle says no protection. Protection log reads, "2025-11-03T09:24:41 Deb... protected Radhika Bhide [Create=Require administrator access] (expires 2026-11-03T09:24:41) ". So the main space version was create protected, but I guess that got overridden by the dedraftification move. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 01:50, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Significa liberdade https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&page=Radhika+Bhide ~2025-32902-76 (talk) 01:52, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
To editorialize a bit cause I'm tired and my internal censor is down, I would have ECP'd instead of FP. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 01:58, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Can you explain why you would have PP'd at all? Looking at the page history, I see that one editor has created the page, then moved it into mainspace, which is in their right to do. Deb moved it back to draftspace without a valid rationale, then the creator objected, which, again, is within their right to do (unless there's an assumed COI, which hasn't been stated). Deb once again draftified in violation of DRAFTOBJECT. I see no reason this page should be protected at all. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 13:34, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
My recollection is that the article creator has used more than one name and recreated the article after this warning, following which they indicated that they would not do any further COI editing. Then they proceeded to do exactly that, which is why I didn't tell them again. In fact, they have a history of creating promotional drafts (which Draft:Radhika Bhide fairly obviously was, in my opinion). If you think that's okay, we obviously see this project differently. Deb (talk) 09:09, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The link you provided is telling them they are not allowed to write an autobiography. Firstly, this is not the case. Editors are strongly discouraged from writing autobiographies, but they are not disallowed. Secondly, the editor agreed not to write about themselves anymore, and they haven't. Lastly, can you explain what you mean when you say, My recollection is that the article creator has used more than one name? Are you stating that the article the editor created was, in fact, about themselves, despite publishing under a different name, or that you believe this editor has used a different account? If you are insinuating the former, I highly doubt that is the case, given that they provided photographs for both biographies -- not to mention that one is a man and one is a woman (see the deleted autobiography). If you think this person has edited using a different account, that's a separate issue. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 13:28, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm not suggesting that. I'm saying that this editor, in his response to me, used what appears to be the name of his organisation - Aditya Jagdhane Music (he never registered under this name, which is that of his website, but he signed with it). Inexperienced users, particularly those whose first language isn't English, often need to have things spelled out to them. If you tell them that it's okay to create an autobiography, they will often fail to understand how the guidelines apply. Tell them they are not allowed to and they generally stop trying to do it. However, I'm glad to see that someone else is now making an effort to fix the promotional article about Radhika Bhide which User:AdityaJagdhane07 created. Deb (talk) 13:53, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
And why did you not block him for violating WP:Username. @Deb: Catfurball (talk) 18:06, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
That wouldn't have been a valid reason. Deb (talk) 19:37, 14 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again! I just noticed your recent draftification of Afshin Azizi, which I have reverted. This was an invalid draftification for multiple reasons. First, the article has been in mainspace for over 90 days, making it ineligible for draftification per WP:DRAFTNO. Second, the article had already been draftified, then moved back into mainspace, making it ineligible for draftification per WP:DRAFTOBJECT. Lastly, as stated above, "inexperienced users" are able to move their articles from draftspace to mainspace. If you have an issue with that, raise it elsewhere. Do not punish new editors for taking actions they are "legally" allowed to make. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 18:50, 20 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
No worries. It's blatant advertising so I will delete it. Deb (talk) 08:46, 21 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting edit

So, you're reverting my single addition to 1897 in literature, because of "no citation", but completely ignore the rest of the page without citation. Well, you better hurry up and delete ever damn one of them, and then move on to 1886, 1887, 1888, 1889, 1890, 1891, 1892, 1893, 1894, 1895, 1896, 1898, 1899, 1900, 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904, 1905, 1906 and so on, because none of them cite when new books are released:

Lidenbrock (talk) 15:19, 19 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I imagine that, not having done much editing yourself, you are unaware of the guideline, agreed in 2017, that all information added to Wikipedia articles must be accompanied by a citation, otherwise it will be subject to deletion. You also won't have read my talk page archive so you'll be unaware of how many contributors have come here to argue with me about it and all of them get the same answer. I spend hours and hours removing additions that don't have citations attached, but it's a bit of an uphill struggle when editors fail to read the messages at the top of the page. Most of the content you point to was added to the article well before you ever started editing, and fixing these things in retrospect is difficult. Maybe you'd like to help rather than criticising. Hello. I don't quite understand the reason why you removed my entry on the 1972 page. What do you mean by inline citations? How can my entry on the person in question be acceptable? Benzekre (talk) 19:59, 24 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You need to add an inline citation (see Wikipedia:Citing sources) to prove that the person was born/died on that particular date. Deb (talk) 08:53, 25 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

REQUEST for restoring the deleted webpage

Greetings respected member of Wikipedia,

I am user PaadumParavai. I've contributed to many highly viewed articles and edited well established publications in the wikipedia. I just published my own article few hours ago and I see it now being deleted for the following reasons'' section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion'' I Kindly request you to please permit me a strict time to edit the article and make it right as per wikipedia norms by making the entire article neutral and encylopedic. This definitely was not intended to be a promotional article. Rather it was meant to be a showcase of a person's Presence and personal career in media profile.

My page is ''Super Singer Lynet'' I highly request you to kindly let me to edit it and send it for a review. Thank you Deb, for your consideration. PaadumParavai (talk) 09:44, 29 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Deb Hearty request for you madam to let me a chance to make it right. Thank you PaadumParavai (talk) 09:45, 29 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. You have not done many edits at all so you don't have the track record you suggest. You should start by reading Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, which is a policy that must be followed. If you want to try to create a new and better article, you can, but you must first declare your conflict of interest as instructed and you should also submit the draft for review, rather than trying to put it straight into mainspace; I don't think it will meet the notability criteria for inclusion in any case. Deb (talk) 09:50, 29 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Okay thank for your advice. May I please get a chance to edit it once and submit for a review? I kindly request you to permit me to carve a better version of my article. I've read the sectional charges applied on my article and understood the norms. I am on my work to make the changes. May i please make it now?
Thought i attached several verified authors links and reference i agree the article written was not neutral. Hence please permit me once to make a edit, Ill be finishing the edit within some time now. PaadumParavai (talk) 09:54, 29 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Deb PaadumParavai (talk) 10:23, 29 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You'll have to start from scratch. You can ask any questions at Wikipedia:Teahouse. Deb (talk) 12:38, 29 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

About Page Deletation

Hey Deb, I have no major conflict of interest creating page for East West Medical College Hospital. From their website I collected few info which I used to create the page. Can you please tell me how to restore the page and what are the recommendation that I should follow to avoid this unwanted deletation? Best regards Megheraalapon (talk) 11:55, 3 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You can't restore the page because it was written promotionally. Please read the guidelines. Deb (talk) 12:33, 3 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I understand. Thank you for your response. Now do I need to create the same page following all the guidelines again? Can I do that starting from scratch again? Or is there any tine limit till I cant create page in same name? Megheraalapon (talk) 15:40, 3 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
You didn't follow all the guidelines so you can't follow them "again", and you will have to start from scratch if you want to create this page. Whatever you do, don't use their website as your main reference. Deb (talk) 15:42, 3 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Noted, thanks for your kind feedback. Best regards Megheraalapon (talk) 15:44, 3 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion review for Danny de Hek

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Danny de Hek. Because you closed the deletion discussion for this page, speedily deleted it, or otherwise were interested in the page, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Iiii I I I (talk) 22:18, 7 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sorry, this is my first time requesting undeletion and I missed the note on WP:DELREVD about discussing with the closer first. Here was the statement I left about the page:

Danny de Hek was speedy deleted earlier today under criteria G11 (unambiguous advertising or promotion). The page admittedly needed cleanup and had some weird edit warring in the page history, but I don't think the wording was promotional, and it was not anywhere near unambiguous. It cited at least one in-depth profile by the New York Times and some other articles by New Zealand publications (I don't remember exactly). I attempted a few edits removing WP:OR before it was tagged and deleted.

The CSD template itself was added by a user who has some kind of ongoing vendetta with the subject of the page, judging by messages left on Talk:Danny de Hek – I believe this was a bad faith tagging.

Iiii I I I (talk) 22:27, 7 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
This is accurate. The subject of the page seems to make a lot of enemies like other scam baiters. So many editors are out with long knives to get the page removed or add slanderous material. I am glad you caught this. M20294135122 (talk) 13:05, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Deb, I believe you have been mislead on the Danny de Hek page by the editor Philosophysubboy https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Philosophysubboy&action=history
Please look at the users history. You'll see that he has been accused of COI and paid editing numerous times on Pakistan related topics. Danny de Hek has written extensively about Pakistan based criminal organizations such as the ones that take payment, promising Wikipedia pages to people and then ghosts them, so there's likely some COI there.
Philosophysubboy has removed many notes left for him on his Talk Page by senior editors accusing him of paid editing. M20294135122 (talk) 13:03, 19 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Hello, Wiki Admin!, how do I change my name? I originally wanted my name to be "Ya here no" but I accidentally typed "Ya Hmar No" Ya Hmar translated to You Donkey in Arabic. Please help me how to change my name Ya hmar no (talk) 08:56, 31 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Long-ago warned editor returns

Hi Deb, five years ago you warned [1] the SPA John Smith2 about promotional edits and a possible COI following this report at ANI [2]. They are now back repeatedly adding NPOV/undue content [3][4] to the same article, this time likely doing so with LLM-assistance (see chatgpt url parameters in first diff). Also see Talk:Jamal Malik for some discussion of some issues with these edits. NicheSports (talk) 15:16, 2 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the alert. It looks like all their recent attempted edits have already been reverted, but we can't afford to give "editors" like this a free hand. I'll contribute to the discussions where appropriate. Deb (talk) 15:47, 2 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Recreation of Deleted Article

Good day! Looks like one of the primary authors of the Nathan Head article you recently deleted has used an LLM to throw together a new article. New article still isn't appropriately sourced and doesn't demonstrate any notability. Wanted to check with you before I took this to AfD, as I was unsure if it was something that needed to be handled outside of that venue. Probably worth noting that the creator seems to have developed a persistent habit of generating contributions of questionable utility using LLMs. nf utvol (talk) 01:35, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, if I remember rightly, they are already in trouble for other articles, but I've just salted this particular one. Deb (talk) 09:01, 15 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to join in the fun. -- Ssilvers (talk) 15:02, 16 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

That's nice. But you must remember that, in those days, there were hardly any articles on anything at all! Deb (talk) 16:25, 16 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop reverting valid changes

WP:V defines material as verifiable if a reliable source could be cited, even if one is not present at that location.

Because the album list entries link to standalone, well-sourced album articles, they satisfy verifiability for uncontroversial inclusion. If there is a concern about an album’s eligibility or sourcing, that issue should be addressed at the article level rather than by removing the list entry for lack of an inline citation. Cringechancellor (talk) 14:54, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

No, they don't. See Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Lists#Adding_individual_items_to_a_list. If there is a reference at the album article, please cite it; you can't really expect me to do that for every new entry. Deb (talk) 15:00, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
MOS:SOURCELIST requires that list items comply with WP:V, not that every entry must always carry a duplicated inline citation.
In this case, the list entries link to standalone album articles that already contain multiple reliable, independent sources verifying existence, release date, and eligibility. No additional claim is being made at the list level.
MOS:SOURCELIST's guidance about adding a reference next to an item applies when inclusion cannot already be verified via existing sourcing, or when the material is challenged or otherwise requires an inline citation. Cringechancellor (talk) 15:03, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Sadly, very many of the items added to year articles are either in the wrong year or don't have a reliable reference for the date in their article. So please ensure that the inline citations are included when you add entries, otherwise anyone has the right to remove them. It would be much quicker for you to do that rather than arguing. I don't make the rules. Deb (talk) 15:10, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, there's a lot of incorrectly unsourced material. But when it comes to the album lists in particular, though, removals should be based on whether there is sufficient evidence at the album or artist article level to establish verifiability and notability, rather than solely on whether an inline citation is duplicated in the list itself. Cringechancellor (talk) 15:13, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
The point of the this particular list is that it specifies a date for the release, and you need to back up that date. So please double check and include the citation. Deb (talk) 15:17, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
The album pages contain the release date and should already be backed up by a citation. Including them in the list as well is unnecessary duplication. If there is no page to verify against, the citation should be included inline. Cringechancellor (talk) 15:23, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
The citation has to be included inline. Deb (talk) 15:24, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Incorrect. Cringechancellor (talk) 15:39, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
WP:MINREF sets the minimum bar for inline citations, requiring them only for quotations, challenged or likely-challenged material, and contentious BLP content; other material must be verifiable but does not require duplicated inline citations. Cringechancellor (talk) 15:49, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixing it. Deb (talk) 16:03, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia routinely relies on linked articles remaining compliant with core content policies. It's not necessary -- or standard practice -- to require duplicated inline citations everywhere as insurance against hypothetical future edits. Cringechancellor (talk) 16:08, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
It's not required everywhere, but it is required in lists. I spent so long arguing this out in 2017, and in the end I had to agree that it was the best thing to do. Deb (talk) 16:09, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
In the year lists for 2005 and later, inline citations are regularly removed once the article page has achieved self-notable status, which means it's achieved significant enough coverage from independent sources (which are documented on the album page). The rule of thumb is around 3 reviews from well-known sources. I believe this is consistent with WP:V and WP:MINREF. Cringechancellor (talk) 21:38, 18 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Haven't heard anything about this. More likely, the reason they aren't there is that the rule didn't come in until 2017 and it's a lot of work to sort out the earlier years. Deb (talk) 08:46, 19 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Draft article: Exclusive Resorts

Hi, thanks for your feedback on the article I drafted as I'm pretty new to this. Can you please restore the draft so that I can rewrite it and resubmit it? Thanks! JoeyS31 (talk) 10:00, 22 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

No. We don't allow advertising, even in drafts. You'll have to start again from scratch. Deb (talk) 13:05, 22 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, could you explain why you deleted this redirect under R3? As the title of the Malayalam Wikipedia article for a Malayalam-language film, it appears neither implausible nor a misnomer. J947edits 00:21, 28 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I'm aware, we don't use non-English titles as redirects. Or at all. Deb (talk) 08:32, 28 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
When they're to a topic related to that language, they're actually encouraged (e.g. the redirects to today's featured article) . See WP:FORRED for one explanation. Regardless, all previous discussions to integrate any form of redirects from other languages into R3 have failed. Please undelete this. J947edits 08:55, 28 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
That's an essay. The guidelines on redirects don't support it. By all means take to RfD for a second opinion. Deb (talk) 09:05, 28 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
wait, why rfd? wouldn't this be a matter for drv? consarn (talck) (contirbuton s) 16:47, 28 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I've closed the RfD and restored the redirect. Deb, it'd be wise to review the CSD criterion before using actioning it along with the heeding the advice given at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2026 January 28#എങ്ങനെ നീ മറക്കും. -- Tavix (talk) 17:49, 28 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I reviewed them before I deleted it, thanks. Deb (talk) 18:19, 28 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I find that unlikely. If you did, you would have noticed that WP:R3 mentions that it only applies to recently created redirects. -- Tavix (talk) 19:00, 28 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Are you calling me a liar? The only thing I forgot to check was how old that worthless redirect was. Deb (talk) 08:56, 29 January 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Empty headers

Hello, please don't leave empty headers on talk pages as you did here (first line), they are a tracked Empty heading syntax error, and leaves an unusable/unnavigable section title in to TOC (if present). If this was auto-generated from a form you used and not directly in your control, I'd be interested in knowing a little more so that we can get that form to not be creating this error. Other editors and I just eradicated this error from enwiki a few hours ago after a month of work and would like to reduce the likelihood of reoccurances. Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion => Dakaractu

Hi @Deb, I hope you're doing well. following my previous request for undeletion of Dakaractu, I've been advised to contact you.

Please find bellow the details shared in the undeletion disucssion dashboard. Best

Dakaractu

This page should not be speedily deleted under CSD A7 or CSD G11 because the subject is supported by independent, reliable sources and the article is capable of being improved to meet encyclopedic standards.

The article cites independent sources that identify Dakaractu and discuss related context, including Jeune Afrique (regarding the founder) and Courrier International (listing/identifying the outlet), as well as additional independent reporting that references Dakaractu journalists.

If any wording is perceived as promotional, I will revise it (e.g., removing subjective terms such as “established” / “regularly cited” and removing outdated traffic claims), which is a cleanup issue rather than a basis for speedy deletion. —Gnomoy (talk) 09:45, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

From the talk page before deletion I tagged previously @Praxidicae who intiially added the speedy deletion but did not responded, in fact, I managed to improve the cotent while adding new international independent additional sources. Gnomoy (talk) 09:47, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Apparently you are aware of the things that need to be changed to bring the article up to standard. I therefore suggest that you start again in draft space, and this time don't move the draft to mainspace before it has passed a review. Deb (talk) 16:13, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Deb, I learned it after. I'm a new contributor, still learning to improve. Best Gnomoy (talk) 18:42, 4 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Recent draft deletion

I noticed you deleted Draft:Sambucha for being "unambiguous advertising or promotion", but I don't recall the draft being purely promotional the last time I visited it. On the other hand, neither the AfD nor the source assessment table offer any hope for the subject's chances of meeting GNG, and Sambucha drafts have been unsuccessfully resubmitted in the past. – MrPersonHumanGuy (talk) 18:44, 8 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Harley Lippman speedy deletion

Hi Deb; when I published the Harley Lippman page, it was nominated for speed deletion. While I contested it in the article talk area, you deleted the article before any conversation could happen.

I understand you don't have to have a full conversation, and that that's what speedy deletion process is for. That said, I do think he is noteworthy enough to justify a Wikipedia article. I'd appreciate you reconsidering and moving it to the draft space, so the article can be improved before being submitted for review in the proper process. LifeLearning (talk) 11:38, 16 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. This isn't just about notability, it's more to do with the way the article is written. It sat around in draft for a very long time and I see that you successfully requested undeletion on two occasions, while the article still hadn't passed review, and then, for some reason, you moved it to Wikipedia:Harley Lippman (presumably in error), before transferring it to mainspace. I can see that you have tried to improve it, but not enough to prevent it being nominated by User:Justlettersandnumbers for deletion under G11, i.e. it came across like promotion. Your appeal concentrated on the notability aspect, and you seemed to be in denial about the promotional tone. I agreed with the nomination; I do think it is promotionally worded and the draft space is where that should have been attended to. Deb (talk) 15:12, 16 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Debs, I have just created a page under the name Jolie Sharpe - and received a notification about a speedy deletion process under G11 - for promotional/ambiguous content in the messaging. Since this notification I refined the messaging on the page to include no promotion, just facts about the individual, with notable citations, but this article has be deleted by yourself. We would like the page to be put back up in my drafts, or the ability to create a page about the said user again, please could you assist? Jolie Sharpe (talk) 14:31, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Who is "we"? User accounts must be for one person and be used by one person only. Although you are allowed to write about yourself on your user page, you must follow the guidelines. Please read Wikipedia:User pages and particularly note the section "What may I not have in my user pages?". Deb (talk) 15:15, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Deb,
Thank you for coming back to me, apologies for the typo - I am creating this page on behalf of Jolie Sharpe which is why I referred to 'we' at one point, but you're correct this page is for one person. Would you be able to place the information written back into the drafts to be built upon. If not, please advise the steps to follow going forward, whether this is needing to create a new page, or to find the old page. Thank you Jolie Sharpe (talk) 15:20, 18 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
No. What you wrote was promotional and clearly intended to publicise Jolie Sharpe, and therefore can't be restored. Furthermore, user pages are meant to be created by the user him/herself. I notice that you have not attempted to do any other editing on Wikipedia, and I would strongly suggest that you start with simple edits to existing articles until you really understand the purpose of Wikipedia. In the meantime, if you still intend to edit on behalf of Jolie Sharpe, please ensure that you declare your conflict of interest on your user page, as instructed by the relevant guideline. Question about G11

On TrocoApp which you deleted, I had previously tagged it as G11 but then self-reverted, since afair there was no explicit promotion, and it seemed like something we would accept without question if it were the userpage of a long-term contributor. Do we have a lower standard for userpages of users blocked for promotion/promotional usernames? lp0 on fire () 22:13, 25 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't say it's a lower standard. You might argue that it was just personal information, but after you self-reverted, a more experienced contributor also tagged it for G11. I'd say the clear purpose of the user page was to draw attention to the business with which s/he was associated. Besides, another admin had already blocked the creator (who had also included the promotional content on his/her Talk page) on the previous day. Deb (talk) 07:15, 26 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, that makes sense. lp0 on fire () 07:59, 26 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Missing block notice

I noticed this morning that one of my mentees User:Shapenews was blocked but didn't have a block notice. I am not sure how these usually get added to user pages, was there a step missed in an automatic tool or does it have to be added manually every time? -- Reconrabbit 15:14, 3 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you're right, I should have left them a notice. Not sure why I didn't, but I'll do it now. Deb (talk) 16:17, 3 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

CSD'd page

Hi Deb! Thank you for deleting this page last night. If it's not too much trouble, would it be possible for you to tell me the domain name the spammer added to the page (i.e. something.net)? I try to keep an eye on previously-added domains since they usually come up again... I meant to grab it after I tagged the page for CSD, but I forgot and then fell asleep instead :) --tony 17:53, 4 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Question about G11 deletion of Draft:Hivemind (Production Company)

Hi Deb, I'm the paid contributor working on the Hivemind draft (disclosed on my user page). I understand the draft was deleted under G11. I have a substantially rewritten version with neutral language and Deadline/Variety citations ready. Before I resubmit, could you advise what specific language triggered the G11 so I can ensure the new draft addresses it? I want to work within Wikipedia's guidelines properly. Thank you. Request for Clarification

Hi! You dropped a message on my talk page here, but I’m not sure in what context it was intended.

The user you mentioned is completely unfamiliar to me, and I don’t see why there would be a connection. From my quick check, we haven’t worked on the same pages or made similar edits (unless I missed something). That aside, I am also explicitly stating that I have no connection or relationship with the said user, who is now indefinitely blocked from editing on Wikipedia.

It's specifically levelled at people who don't understand what Wikipedia is for and who don't realise the bad impression they are giving by persisting in doing something that's expressly forbidden by the guidelines. In most cases, it's very effective. Deb (talk) 07:26, 19 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Request for the recovery of Draft:Sai Symphony Orchestra

Could you please recover/ undelete the draft that i had created on the orchestra... the text seemed to be promotional but you need not delete the page itself. This orchestra IS REAL. They are representing their country in real time as I type this message to you. Please consider this request. I will work on getting better sources to back the information on that page.

Why do guys find youtube links unreliable? Youtube sources shows things as it is; WYSIWYG isn't it ?

Looking forward to your response on this. Ishaan Ram (talk) 07:46, 22 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

This is nothing to do with the references - it's about the really bad article you wrote. We won't restore material that conflicts with Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, regardless of how worthy the topic may be. You were warned several times, but you chose to ignore the warnings and advice. If you want to advertise the orchestra, please go somewhere else. If you use promotional language again, you are likely to be blocked from editing altogether Deb (talk) 07:52, 22 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Got it sir.
but please let me change the tone of the article...
i didn't want to advertise something that is not true.
Please let me redo that draft properly. Ishaan Ram (talk) 08:08, 22 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you can redo it in your own sandbox, but you must start again. This is not about whether something is "true", it's about how you write the article. Try Wikipedia:NPOV tutorial for help. Deb (talk) 09:01, 22 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Happy First Edit Day!

Deleted draft page

I don't believe you saw the reply to your message on my talk page so I am reposting it here Thank you Deb, I just saw your message now. Already had the chance to resolve all outstanding issues by following the WP:NPOV guidelines and removed a few weasel words that has slipped by while the page was in draft. The page should be a lot better now. Please advise if there are any other issues remaining. Thank you

I have corrected quite a few issues with the page while in draft as per your request as you can see in the page history but saw that you have now deleted the entire page. As I have additional corrections to make, kindly undelete the page back to draft so these can be made. I am also open to your suggestions and feedback on any other issues with the page that need to be corrected that I may have overlooked. There are many telecommunications providers in Canada that don't yet have any presence in Wikipedia which should be improved. NRG3K (talk) 21:49, 31 March 2026 (UTC)[reply]

No, sorry. It was entirely promotional; if anything, it was worse than your previous attempt. There is no requirement for every telecommunications provider in Canada to have an article on Wikipedia. See Wikipedia:NOT for further guidance. Also, read Wikipedia:NPOV again. Deb (talk) 07:51, 1 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your reply and guidance. I have reviewed WP:NOT as per your request and have noted the additional changes required to respect these guidelines. Please confirm if the draft page can be undeleted or if it's better to start from scratch. NRG3K (talk) 17:38, 1 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Please start from scratch. Deb (talk) 17:44, 1 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Misinformation on Welsh Wikipedia (7/7 Ripple Effect)

Hello, I'm very sorry if this is the wrong place to report, I don't use Wikipedia a lot, and don't speak Welsh so wasn't sure where to report it from the Welsh wikipedia.

However, I was recently browsing around with my browser's translation and found that https://cy.wikipedia.org/wiki/7/7_Ripple_Effect was a very short page and was concerned by the fact that it made no reference to the fact that the film supported conspiracy theories (compare to english article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/7/7_Ripple_Effect ), instead referring to it as a documentary and even linking to it. Looking around the history, it only seems to have been written/editted by bots, and presents it as a standard film release.

I do hope you have the ability to fix it as the uncritical page is deeply worrying. Captain-jaded304 (talk) 10:02, 6 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for letting me know. Unfortunately, a lot of the film articles on Welsh Wikipedia are initially created by a bot, so I'm sure your criticism is justified. I'll check it out. Deb (talk) 13:04, 6 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

The Upbeat

Hi Deb, my name is Brandon Seider and I'm a member of The Upbeat, a ska/roots reggae/rocksteady band from Carpinteria, California that has been active since 1985. I'm writing to request restoration of the article that was deleted under G11 in November 2025. I understand the concern about conflict of interest and promotional tone, and I take that feedback seriously. I'm not asking for the page to be restored as-is. I'm currently working with someone outside the band to rewrite it in a neutral, encyclopedic tone with proper third-party citations, including our releases on Hellcat Records, Moon Records, and SRH Productions, as well as documented media placements on Fox Sports and in Transworld publications. If possible, could the deleted content be restored to a draft space so we can work from it rather than starting from scratch? We have an archived version but having the original Wikipedia formatting intact would make the rewrite process much cleaner. Thank you for your time and for the work you do maintaining Wikipedia's standards. Brandon Seider / Bseider Bseider (talk) 23:42, 9 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Brandon, I really hope you haven't employed someone to write the article. Such people are nearly always scammers. If, on the other hand, you have found a genuine Wikipedia editor to do this for you, I'd be willing to e-mail the original text to them, if you give me their user name. Deb (talk) 07:35, 10 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Deb. No, I was just thinking of "hiring" someone in my extended social circle that might be willing to do the work. "Genuine Wikipedia editor"? I didn't know that was a thing. BTW, can you tell me if the entire "The Upbeat" text/page was inappropriate, causing deletion, or was there a recent edit that red-flagged it? I remember an occassion over the past few months, receiving a notification that somebody had edited the page. I didn't think much of it at the time, but then the page got deleted. Bseider (talk) 21:09, 11 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
What I meant by "genuine" was that there are people who pretend to be able to promise to create Wikipedia articles at a price. They advertise openly on the web, but it's all smoke and mirrors. Their employees don't have the skills to do it and don't even know what to do until they get given the task - quite often they are people who don't even speak English properly and they try to use AI, with the result that they get kicked off immediately. So I'd recommend you only hire someone if they already have experience of the project; otherwise both of you could end up being disappointed, and if the ghost-writer declares their conflict of interest, the article will be tagged accordingly and probably given a harsher reading. I checked back on the history of the page (apparently there was once an article on a defunct Australian group of the same name, deleted many years ago). The main problem with the article was that there were no independent references, which may not have been something we were cracking down on at the time you began the article, but is definitely unacceptable now. I think your article had been tagged with a warning about this for several years, so it was only a matter of time. The only solution I can suggest is that you check out Wikipedia:Requested articles. To get anywhere with such a request, you would need to be able to provide citations from independent reliable sources in order to demonstrate notability. So it's best to consider that before you even start. Deb (talk) 09:06, 12 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Deb. Is there any way to salvage the existing article by providing sources, or must we start from scratch? I think I may have read that another reason for article removal (other than lack of citations?) is for "personal promotion", which is unnaceptable. I want to be clear that the intent of the article was only to preserve the historical content surrounding this project which has been active for 40 years straight (since 1985). Bseider (talk) 16:13, 14 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Deb. Just following up on my last comment. Thank you. Bseider (talk) 14:36, 23 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Improving a speedy deletion page

Hi, I wanted to make improvements to the deleted page Draft:NosTale - using the original as a base but with edits for neutrality and improved citations. Wikipedia guidelines suggested getting in contact with you prior to making a new page, so I was just looking for a bit of guidance on best steps for improving the page. Thank you! Tgsby (talk) 22:44, 13 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

You have no contributions so I'm not sure what you are asking about. The draft you mention was not created by you - are you connected with User:Gameforge AG? Deb (talk) 07:35, 14 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I work with them and have been asked to take a look at improving the draft, to make it more suitable for publishing, find higher quality citations, etc. As I was using their text as a base, I understood that it was generally good practice to get in touch with whoever flagged the previous page for deletion. Tgsby (talk) 15:23, 14 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
You have a conflict of interest which you haven't declared. I advise that you don't use the blocked user's text as a base. Deb (talk) 17:12, 14 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Understood, thank you. Tgsby (talk) 12:50, 15 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

1992

Thank you for your explanation here. I don't know what you intend to convey or do, but it appears to me that you have;

  • Removed an image from an image gallery
  • Commented out the entire gallery
  • Instructed editors that the gallery is "Not to be re-added until non-notable domestic event is removed", when it appears that you have already done this
  • Haven had two opportunities to explain your repeated edit, still failed to reveal what exactly you are talking about.

What is the event you believe is the "non-notable domestic event" that needs removed? Would it be possible to specify exactly which one? Thank you. Escape Orbit (Talk) 08:14, 16 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Who is Haven? The edit summary fully explained what the problem is. The release of a computer game in North America is not an event in international terms. See Wikipedia:Timeline standards#Events. The entries referring to this relatively minor event were unreferenced. It should not therefore be included in the collage. If the contents of the collage had been discussed and agreed by consensus before the collage was introduced as they are supposed to be, this image would certainly have been excluded. Deb (talk) 12:57, 16 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, "Haven had" is a typo. It should say "Having had". I see now that your edit summaries have left you in much of the dark as they did me, for there is no release of a computer game in the collage. But I think I now understand what is confusing;
There was a mention of a television channel launching, which you removed the text relating to, and left a cryptic editor note. But you did not remove its image because that would leave the collage in a bit of a mess (even though you also commented it out).
A simple mention of "Cartoon network", or even "tv channel" in the note, or in either of your edit summaries, would have meant any future editor wouldn't have to piece it all together (edit, edit summary and editor note) to figure out your meaning. But I was initially under the misunderstanding that you were referring to some other, unknown, issue that you were not identifying. My mistake. --Escape Orbit (Talk) 15:57, 16 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Well, all you had to do was look at my edit in the article history. Deb (talk) 15:58, 16 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Front App, Inc.

Hi Deb,

I noticed you deleted Front App, Inc. under WP:G15.

The reasoning given was Unreviewed LLM-generated content (violation of WP:NEWLLM. Signs like "The platform combines elements of", "As of 2026, Front reports approximately 300 employees and more than 9,000 customers globally", "Front participated in the Y Combinator startup accelerator program and has been covered by publications including TechCrunch and Business Insider", "The round supported Front's repositioning from a shared inbox tool to a broader customer operations platform focused on comp.

However it is my understanding that G15 only applies to non-existent sources or instructions for the reader not just WP:AISIGNS. Was there any additional reasoning for the speedy deletion? The subject had its own notability issues and I believe this should have gone to WP:AFD instead. SecretSpectre (talk) 10:11, 22 April 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion... have rewritten, unsure how to proceed. Guidance?

Hello, Deb. You deleted my article on "triangle productions!" and I believe I understand why. I have rewritten it to 1) take out all mentions of the founder, except to name him as the founder. I realize that too much of my article was about what he had done, not what triangle had done. 2) I took out many adjectives; 3) I cut substantially, making it all shorter. I believe the article is now neutral, hopefully to Wikipedia standards. How may I proceed with offering the revised article? And if it's not quite right, tell me what to fix. I am NOT vested in making this a pr piece. My name is Sherry Lamoreaux. ("Toby Paladin" is a character in a story I wrote some years ago, and when I signed up as an editor a few years ago, I used that name, do not recall why now.) triangle productions! theatre company

Hello, Deb. My sandbox submission was deleted; on reviewing the rules I think I know why (the article was about the executive director as much as the theatre company) so it's been strongly revised and cut. I tried to submit it again, and somehow nothing happened. I'm asking for guidance on 1) how to submit for review (not to actually publish yet) and 2) make whatever further edits will make it acceptable.

Hi. Sorry for delay, but there's no sign of you having created a further draft in your sandbox since the one I deleted on 31 March. Deb (talk) 17:53, 1 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Yikes! I'll post it tomorrow. Thank you! -Sherry TobyPaladin (talk) 23:13, 1 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Don't forget to declare your conflict of interest on your user page. Deb (talk) 09:03, 2 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Having grouble posting. There is evidently something wrong with this link: https://playbill.com/article/15-regional-companies-leading-the-charge-in-gay-theatre.... Looking on this page: Wikipedia:Citing sources, I don't see guidance.... the link does work (for me, anyway). Can you tell me why this i sn't working. Sorry for all the newbie questions. TobyPaladin (talk) 18:52, 3 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Without seeing your draft, I can't guess what is wrong with your citation. Deb (talk) 07:35, 4 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Guideline and policy news

Technical news

  • Changes to user permissions made from Meta are now included in the local user permissions log (T6055).
  • The autoconfirmed user group will soon be modified such that the four-day account age requirement begins when an account makes its first edit (T418484).

Arbitration

  • The arbitration case SchroCat has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case closed on 15 April.
  • Per a recent motion, appeals of blocks from the conflict-of-interest VRT queue are, by default, appealed on-wiki through the normal unblock process. However, they may be heard by the Committee if COIVRTers disagree on the interpretation of the evidence or believe ArbCom would be better suited to hear the appeal. Administrators are also advised that loosening or lifting such blocks without the consent of someone with access to the queue or ArbCom can be grounds for desysopping.
  • Per a recent motion, restrictions issued directly by the Committee may now be enforced with blocks which work exactly like contentious topic blocks.
  • The arbitration case Maghreb has been closed.

Request for undeletion/drafting: Usman Warsi

Hello Deb, I am writing to politely request the restoration of the page Usman Warsi (deleted on 18 Nov 2022) to my User Draft space (e.g., User:UsmanWarsi/Draft).

The page was deleted under A7, but I have gathered significant biographical evidence and physical newspaper archives (including Daily Jang and Nawa-i-Waqt) documenting my career as a professional music composer and singer in Pakistan. I am also the nephew of the notable poet Muzaffar Warsi (already mentioned on his Wiki page). I would like to improve the article with proper citations in the draft space before seeking a formal review. Thank you for your time. Usman Warsi (talk) 13:27, 7 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

You mean to say that you are writing about yourself? That is not acceptable. See Wikipedia:Autobiographies. Please follow the guidelines. Deb (talk) 14:07, 7 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Request to discuss G11 deletion of Draft:SimplyWise

Hello Deb, thank you for your AfC patrol work. I'm writing about Draft:SimplyWise, which you deleted at 06:59 UTC on 13 May 2026 under G11 (advertising/promotion). I'm a paid contributor with disclosures on my user page and on the draft talk page per WP:PAID and WP:COI.

I'd be grateful for your guidance on how to address the promotional concern, because I'd like to rewrite rather than re-create the same issues. The draft cited five independent secondary sources for notability under WP:NCORP:

  • Journal of Accountancy (May 2023, AICPA peer-edited) — discussed alongside Expensify, QuickBooks, FreshBooks
  • CNBC (19 August 2020)
  • Fox Business (2020)
  • Audacy / NewsRadio 1080 KRLD (26 February 2024)
  • WPSD Local 6 (28 February 2024)

Two questions, if you have a moment:

  1. Which specific passages did you find promotional? The product subsections were intended as plain functional descriptions, but I recognise a paid editor must clear a higher tone bar, and I'd like to learn where I crossed it.
  2. Would you be willing to restore the draft to my userspace (e.g. User:SimplyWise-Daniel/SimplyWise) so I can revise it offline and not republish until it's encyclopedic? I'm happy to wait for your response before doing anything else with the title.

Thanks again for your time. SimplyWise-Daniel (talk) 17:03, 13 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Well... Like so many paid contributors, you tend to concentrate on what's good about the company. There's a list of products and what they are supposed to do. Even after you took out most of the promotional language, the references are mostly to Google Play and Apple App, which are sales outlets, so not great as references. How many of the independent references directly resulted from press releases by the company? Deb (talk) 17:37, 13 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Deb, that's exactly the diagnostic I needed.
You're right on both counts. Even after the strip, the draft still reads as a product catalogue, and over-relying on App Store / Google Play as references defeats the WP:RS test — those are sales outlets, not independent secondary sources. I'll remove every App Store and Google Play citation in the revised draft and reframe the body away from a per-product feature list.
On press-release derivation — checking the five secondary sources against WP:ORGIND:
  • Journal of Accountancy (Newkirk + Webber, May 2023): peer-edited AICPA analysis of digital recordkeeping for tax substantiation; named authors discussing methodology, not a product announcement.
  • CNBC (Greg Iacurci, 19 Aug 2020): reporter-led personal-finance piece on cash-strapped Americans citing SimplyWise as one example tool, not a launch story.
  • Fox Business (2020): pandemic-savings reporting in the same shape.
  • Audacy / NewsRadio 1080 KRLD (26 Feb 2024) and WPSD Local 6 (28 Feb 2024): tax-season tech reviews that include SimplyWise alongside other tools.
None of these are reproduced from a press release that I can locate; if you have a heuristic you use to check, I'd genuinely like to learn it. If the revised draft (no App Store refs, products folded into prose, leaning only on the five sources above) is something you'd be willing to look at in my userspace, I'd appreciate the restore. Otherwise I'll wait here for your further guidance before doing anything else with the title. SimplyWise-Daniel (talk) 17:41, 13 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I think if you're relying on those sources, you probably need more of them. I suspect that the articles based on the survey done by the company were prompted by the press release but I've not checked the wording. It would be preferable to have more that discusses the company as a company, if you know what I mean. But bear in mind that, if you re-draft it, I'm not likely to be the one reviewing it, so I can't guarantee what will and won't work. Deb (talk) 17:47, 13 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, thanks Deb. I'll widen the source base toward coverage that discusses the company more substantively, and I'll specifically check whether the 2020 articles trace back to a company survey or press release before re-citing them. Appreciate you taking the time — your feedback was much more useful than a one-line "tough luck" reply would have been. SimplyWise-Daniel (talk) 23:16, 13 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems

Hello Deb, I am writing to politely request the restoration of the above page. I understand that some sentences might have sounded promotional. That was not my intention and is easy to fix. I do not have personal relations with the company or know their people/management personally. But in the high-end audio market, they are a key player just like other firms in the industry and on Wikipedia such as Mark Levinson Audio Systems, Accuphase, McIntosh Laboratory, Audio Research or Burmester Audiosysteme. I am sure, once restored and further edited by others, this will make a relevant contribution to Wikipedia. Thx a lot for your consideration. Boltor (talk) 14:27, 18 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Normally I don't restore promotional text. I realise that it's not easy to edit mainly on topics relating to commercial companies without sometimes lapsing into advertorial language, but it is contrary to the neutral point of view policy to write things like "products are regularly featured in "best of" lists and considered state-of-the-art in the industry". There wasn't really much meat to the article, so I don't see why it wouldn't be possible for you to rewrite it, this time concentrating on independent sources rather than what the company and its retailers say about its products. Even the Guttenberg source is potentially problematic, as he admits to being an old friend of d'Agostino. So maybe your best course is to rewrite and submit for review, then you should get some constructive feedback. Deb (talk) 15:15, 18 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with your observation rg "best of" or "state-of-the-art" unless coming from a more authoritative source. I should have left it out in the first place. Would it be possible to move the page to draft so that I do not have to start from scratch? That would save me some time. Thanks a lot in advance. Boltor (talk) 17:17, 19 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

You may be eligible to vote in the U4C election

I am contacting you because you previously voted in elections related to the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C). You may be eligible to vote in the current U4C election, which is open now and closes on 2 June 2026. You can find out more about the candidates and the election on the election page on Meta, and from there you can access the vote itself. Your participation in these elections is important to the governance of Wikimedia communities, and your time spent learning about the candidates and voting is appreciated.

Reg LXV Wine Draft

Hi Deb, thank you for reaching out and for catching that. I am the owner of LXV Wine, and I want to apologize if my recent contribution came across as promotional. I am entirely new to Wikipedia's editing environment, and I am trying my best to learn the guidelines. I have officially declared my conflict of interest (COI) on my user page. My goal is strictly to utilize the Articles for Creation (AfC) submission process so that neutral, experienced editors can review the subject's independent sourcing (such as Wine Enthusiast and Decanter) and help strip out any remaining non-neutral tone. I appreciate your vigilance, and I will be much more careful to ensure the text remains purely objective moving forward. Best regards, --Kunal-lxv (talk) 14:56, 22 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Review For the Draft-turned Article: Collibra

Dear Deb, what's the best way for me to initiate a fair review process around the article that I have proposed?

In the meantime, I have provided a bit more context as to the production process and the roadmap I have in mind for this article, namely Collibra.

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk%3APythoncoder#LLMs_were_used_to_format_the_content

If it helps, I can have a petition signed online. I have already listed the individuals that could attest to the credibility of the case for having a Collibra article. The list is already included in the codebase behind the said article as a simple file. I can send a link also. But I'm not sure it would be needed yet. Sina K. Heshmati (SinDoc) (talk) 09:12, 23 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Request to help improve Draft:House Of Kesha

Good day, Deb! I noticed your draft at Draft of Kesha and I think it has a lot of potential. I was wondering if you’d be okay with me helping improve and expand the draft, and possibly preparing it for AfC submission. I’d make sure to keep the work aligned with Wikipedia guidelines and sourcing standards. Thanks! Cyanii (talk) 23:29, 24 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Alex Espinoza

Hello. Thanks for deleting and protecting Paul Alex Espinoza. It seems like User:Ynalauv has recreated the article at Paul Alex, so that's most likely a sock puppet of whoever created Paul Alex Espinoza. JTtheOG (talk) 04:35, 25 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Rewriting a deleted article

Hi Deb, I'm writing because I would like to give writing the article on ELO Digital Office another try and Wikipedia advised me to contact you before doing so again.

I've read the feedback from the reviewer, and I think I can use it to make a better article. This would mean removing the global operations section and stripping down the products and technology section. However, I'm unsure if there were any points of concern with the history section (I would be using some of the same sources for it). Wiseeeeeee (talk) 05:29, 31 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]

By all means give it another try. As long as it's in draft, I would only delete it if it's promotional or written with AI. Deb (talk) 08:04, 31 May 2026 (UTC)[reply]
