I am an Englishman who has now spent more time away from home than in it. It's a quiet life for me, enjoying the small pleasures of coffee and a croissant by the train station. People fascinate me, and this love of humanity led me to become a professor of Anthropology. I've been working in the private sector for an American company for the past three years, which has led to more travel, which has opened the door for more travel to the U.S. Living in Belgium can be isolating, but I love the quiet life, and I'm glad that international companies are happy to employ international contractors and let us work from home in our little beautiful corners of the world.

My interests are in Eastern philosophy (Buddhism in particular), the human rights abuses carried out against Buddhist groups, and (as a palette cleanser) classical art and art history. I have a particular interest in the contributions of women to art and history, which have been forgotten to time or otherwise attributed to the men in their lives. I also have a fondness for cats, obscure taste in music, and I love American stand-up comedy—the Brits are still great, but they got left behind by America's podcast revolution.
