Scholars' Home is a private, co-educational, English-medium school located in Gomtinagar, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. Established in April 1999, the school offers education from the pre-primary level (Playgroup) through Class XII and is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), following the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) curriculum for Classes IX–X and the Indian School Certificate (ISC) curriculum for Classes XI–XII.[3]
The school has received an AAAA institutional rating from Careers360 and has been ranked among the top schools in Uttar Pradesh by multiple independent education surveys.[3][4]
History
Scholars' Home commenced its first academic session in April 1999 with an initial enrolment of 96 students. The school is managed by an educational society comprising professionals and educationists. Over the following two and a half decades, enrolment grew to approximately 960 students across pre-primary, primary, middle, and senior school sections.
The school was founded under the directorship of Sarita Jaiswal, who served as its principal for over two decades before assuming the role of Director. Anupam Singh subsequently became the school's principal.
Academics
Curriculum
Scholars' Home follows the CISCE board curriculum. The school offers the ICSE examination at the end of Class X and the ISC examination at the end of Class XII. The senior school (Classes XI–XII) offers four academic streams: Physics–Chemistry–Mathematics (PCM), Physics–Chemistry–Biology (PCB), Commerce, and Arts.[3] Languages taught include English, Hindi, German, and Sanskrit.[5]
The school prepares students for competitive examinations including the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) and the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), and encourages participation in national and international Olympiads.
Teaching Methodology
The school organises its pedagogical approach across four developmental stages. At the pre-primary level, a play-based method emphasising experiential learning is employed. Primary classes focus on concept-based instruction over rote memorisation, supplemented by hands-on experiments and group discussions. The middle school curriculum is designed to develop metacognitive skills, critical thinking, and effective communication. At the senior level, instruction is oriented towards board examinations and competitive entrance tests.
The school also incorporates technology-enabled learning through smart classrooms and digital content across all levels.[3]
Campus and Facilities
Scholars' Home occupies a campus of approximately 2 acres with a total built-up area of around 109,000 square feet. The campus is fully air-conditioned. Facilities include 46 classrooms (of which 16 are equipped with smart boards), five subject laboratories (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, and a STEM/STEAM laboratory), a library, a 500-seat auditorium, three playgrounds, a computer laboratory, dedicated music and dance studios, a gymnasium, a cafeteria, and a swimming pool.[3] The school has CCTV surveillance and GPS-enabled transport with a student tracking application.[5] Disabled-accessible washrooms and entrance ramps are available on campus.[5]
Co-curricular Activities
Sports
The school has own sports infrastructure for cricket, football, basketball, lawn tennis, badminton, and swimming. Students also participate in taekwondo, karate, gymnastics, skating, yoga, archery, hockey, table tennis, horse riding, and athletics.[3][5]
In the 2024–25 academic year, students won eight recognised sports awards across state, national, and international levels, including two awards at the international level.
Clubs and Societies
The school operates approximately 25 clubs and societies. Activities include debates, Model United Nations (MUNs), dramatics, quizzes, music, art and craft, creative writing, clay modelling, community service, and educational excursions.[3]
In the 2024–25 academic year, students won four recognised co-curricular awards, including two at the international level.
School Houses
The school organises its students into four houses for co-curricular and inter-house competitions. Each house is identified by a distinct colour, a heraldic mascot, and a character-based motto. The house system is visually encoded in the school's emblem: a heraldic shield divided into four coloured quadrants — yellow, red, green, and blue — bearing a central open book and surmounted by a rising sun, with the inscription Strive for Excellence on a scroll below. Each quadrant colour corresponds directly to one of the four houses.
| House | Colour | Mascot | Motto |
|---|---|---|---|
| Faith | Yellow | Lion | Be Optimistic |
| Joy | Red | Horse | Ignite Potential |
| Hope | Green | Swallow | Ride Challenges |
| Peace | Blue | Dolphin | Embrace Humanity |
The mottoes are phrased as character directives rather than academic objectives, consistent with the school's stated emphasis on holistic development.
