Weisbrod has been spelled and pronounced many different ways. Weisbrod, Weihsbrod, Weisbrot, Weisbroad, Weisbrot, Weisbold, ect. Probably due to the translation from the German language to English. In Germany it is spelled weissbrod and is pronounced Vicebroht and means white bread. Weis means white and broht means bread. John Christian Weisbrod, seems to be the most distant relative we can trace back to. I don't know if he had sisters or brothers or not. John Christian Weisbrod is the father of Anna Elizabeth (Lishen) Weisbrod Dietrich, Christian Weisbrod, Anna Elisabeth Weisbrod Hiller, Elisa-Elise Weisbrod Moeller and Heinrich Weisbrod and possibly another brother, Frank Weisbrod, though nothing has been found about him anywere. CHristian's obituary said, Christian came to this country with one brother and was seperated soon after. I have learned nothing of John Christian Weisbrod, exceot, that he was called John Weisrbod in his daughter elisa Moeller's history and was called christian in his daughter Anna E. Hiller's obituary. According to her obituary, Heinrich in Germany wasa half-brother and Elisa Moeller was a half-sister. I am assuming the mother of the older childern may have died at or shortly after Anna E. Hiller's birth, as Elisa Moeller was born 1845 and heinrich was born 1847 and their mother was recorded as Anna gerturde Nautler or Nordler. Heinrich,in a letter to Elisa mentioned a cousin, Valentin Nordler. Elisa's obituary started that she was orphaned when 10 years old. Heinrich would have been 8 years old. I wonder if one or both parents died at this time, which would be about 1855? If only we could find the Weisbrod Bible that William Weisbrod was supposed to have had!! ( We did but it was Will's Bible.) Sometime that was very confusing in this search was, the sisters seemed to have much the same name! The eldest, which was determined after much searching, was Anna Elizabeth (Lischen) Weisbrod, born 13 June 1831, in Rohrenfurth, Gremany. The only name we had tp search for was lischen, which we found in a letter from Heinrich to Elisa and a letter from Anna E. Hiller to Elisa. Through their letters, I found she was living on a farm near Blairstown, Iowa in benton county in 1882, with her youngest son. It said her daughter had been marriage. Lischen's oldest son was a shoemaker in wilton, Iowa. I foud s shoemaker in the 1885 census for wilton and his name was Martin C. Dietrich, which corresponded with the Martin Didrich, whose grave was on the oakdale cemetery in wilton, Iowa. The stone reading was: Martin Didrich, geb. den 9 February 1829, Gest. den 11 December 1864. I wrote to benton county but they could not find a DIetrich that owned land there in 1882. They suggested that i contact the benton county Historical Society and when I did, I got a surprise bunch of information! That is when I discovered Lischen's name on her son's marriage record of 1884, as Anna, nee Weisbrod. They sent ma a page from Benton county History, about Dietrichs. It started with Martin and Elizabeth, their children and another three generations! In Heinrich's letter, he said he was going ti write to sister, lisgen bt dietrich. wilton (1 Jan. 1876). Lischen's husband, Martin was killed when working for the railroad in 1864 and is buried in oakdale cemetery in wilton, Iowa. Anna Elizabeth (Lischen), was bind eleven years before her death, 6 Aug. 1916 in Luzerne. She is buried in the Lutheran cemetery, south of Luzerne, in section 24 in Iowa Twsp. and in Benton County, Iowa. Christian Weisbrod, the second child of J. C. Weisbrod and mother unknown, was born19 July 1833, in Rohrenfurth, Germany. He was said he had left Bremen, having saved $300.00."..... Possibly his fare to America for 7 years, ( this is from brother Heinrich's letter, who lived in Germany). christian was said to have worked in a china shop and someone else said he was a maker of wagon wheels, and this is what he worked at when he arrived in America. Christian and sister, Elisa came to America and to muscatine, Iowa, where she settled in wilton, Iowa. they arrived 13 September 1864. He married mary myers, 14 June 1868. She died 22 october 1890 and he died 21 february 1910.
