TELEVISION

Alvin V. Williams was Senior Director of Music, Talent & Acquisitions at the Gospel Music Channel (GMC), the first and only 24-hour entertainment cable television network dedicated to all forms of gospel music that is being broadcast to over 40 million homes.

GOSPEL MUSIC HERITAGE MONTH

Williams spearhead the creation of, Gospel Music Heritage Month, marking America’s first-ever National Gospel Music Heritage Month, so-designated by House of Representatives (H.Con. Res. 370) and Senate (S. Res. 595).. The dual legislation proclaims September 2008 as Gospel Music Heritage Month, honoring gospel music for its valuable long-standing contributions to American culture.

MUSIC EXECUTIVE

Williams is the former Director of Music World Gospel where he created the Gospel division, working with such artist as, Michelle Williams and Ramiyah. Williams also created the Spirit Rising compilation and A&R The Fighting Temptation soundtrack. Also, as former A&R Director at Word Records, Williams Executive-Produced five albums. The first project received 2002 Grammy and Dove nominations for Shirley Caesar's Hymns project; a 2001 Grammy for Shirley Caesar, "You Can Make It," then a Grammy nomination for New Direction's "Get Your Praise On." These same projects received Dove Award nominations (2001), Shirley Caesar, Best Traditional Gospel Record for "You Can Make It" and Best Contemporary Song for "Rejoice," featuring New Direction. EDUCATION Williams holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Tennessee State University
