My username is UND77 and my name is Mary; I am a participant in my high school's AP Biology class. We are currently working on Wikipedia: WikiProject AP Biology 2011. I am interested in Biology because I have an ambition to become a pediatric oncologist. I would like to attend either The University of Notre Dame or The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for undergraduate Pre-Medical Studies, and later attend Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine for my specialization/graduate studies. As a high school student, one can imagine I have lots of interesting hobbies and interests.

I love cooking and baking. One of my favorite recipes to cook is pan seared scallops with a white wine/garlic base and scallions. I also enjoy the game of golf. I try to golf every day or at least every other day.

Additionally, I love sharks and cars. I am extremely interested in the goblin and thresher sharks, and I am currently working on the Sand tiger shark article. Feel free to check it out! I have been reading shark encyclopedias since the age of five years old. My favorite type of car is the Merecedes-Benz S-Class. As my user box states, "I am a Mercedes Benz enthusiast!" I have not yet gotten a car of my own, however, I hope to get one in the near future. I am a proud owner of a smartcar.

One may read my beginning Bio and wonder why I want to pursue a career in medicine. My family has been involved in medicine (mother is a herbalist and health insurance provider; father was a paramedic; grandfather was doctor in the army; aunt is a nurse; grandmother was a nurse; etc.), but that is not the only reason why I want to pursue it. Pediatric oncology is a very difficult, emotion filled job. I want to do it because I have dealt with the challenges of living with a cancer patient. It is very difficult, sad, and stressful; I can't imagine how hard it would be for a child. Hopefully someday I can help a child conquer their sickness and their fears about cancer.

I would like to attend The University of Notre Dame because I feel it is the school that will give me all the tools I need to achieve my goals. I have visited many universities around the country, and found that only Notre Dame fit me. My father attended the school, so it will always hold a place in my heart for it. Also, Notre Dame's women's golf program is fantastic for my skill level and their Pre-Medical studies are stellar. My grandfather attended Johns Hopkins School of Medicine,so I feel that would be a nice choice for me. Also, Johns Hopkins in one of the most prestigious medical schools in the nation.

Lastly, I am new to wikipedia. Therefore, if anyone would like to lend a helping hand with any of my articles, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm still getting used to the formatting and such, so if you have any additional information or additions in formatting that would be extremely helpful.
