Tim W. VanDenover (born March 16, 1958) is an American Martial Artist. Owner and instructor of Rising Sun Karate, Inc. in Scottsdale, AZ. Contents


Personal life: Tim VanDenover, the son of Howard E. VanDenover and Marion E. VanDenover, was born in Waynesboro, PA. He is also the younger brother of Jackie VanDenover and Stephen VanDenover. VanDenover is a practitioner of Okinawan Shorin-Ryu and Sport Kenjutsu.

VanDenover first started his martial arts training in the summer of 1971 under the instruction of Sensei James H. Hawkes (co-director of the United States Karate Alliance). From the late 70's and well in the the 2000s, VanDenover competited in many tournaments across the country and competed in the Sports Chanbara World Championships in Yokahama, Japan in 1999 and 2006. VanDenover opened Rising Sun Karate in 1995 after moving from Albuquerque, NM to Scottsdale, AZ in 1994. VanDenover has also done some acting stage, film, commericals and voice over work. He currently is the emcee for the United States Karate Alliance World Championships. VanDenover is also a practitioner of Sport Kenjutsu (Sports Chanbara) and has written a games maual for instructors as well as the tournament rules and regulations. He had performed many demonstrations as well as taught Sport Kenjutsu seminars across the US and in Mexico.
