I know you’ve heard this before, but I’ve always wanted to be a writer. Since I was just a kid, it’s all I ever really dreamed about.

I began cranking out my first serious manuscripts in the early Nineties and at that time most publishing houses were hemorrhaging money. It was nearly impossible to publish anything in those days, unless you wanted to pay for the print run yourself or you were shock-jock republican talk show host.

After countless queries to agents and publishers and innumerable rejections – my manuscripts went into boxes and were relegated to the attic where they sat in a quiet corner collecting dust.

But at this time the world was in the midst of a digital revolution and one that would redefine the way in which the world communicates. I jumped on the bandwagon and quickly ascended from tinkering around to serious web dude.

Eventually, I was lucky enough to land at a Fortune 500 company and convince people in the right places that I was some kind of “digital marketing guru”.

I got married, had kids, bought a nice home in the suburbs, grew some roots and kept the dream of writing the great American novel alive.

Then, in about 2009, Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing hit my radar and I began reading about the success of indie authors who rejected the big 6 publishers in favor of going it alone.

I began to read how they got to publish what they wanted, when they wanted and without editorial interference. No one told them what to write and there was no one looking over their shoulder saying “We don’t want a sequel.”

I was fortunate that I discovered JA Konrath’s Blog and it really convinced me that I could succeed.

By late 2010 I had decided that I would give my literary ambitions one last try. I began to review all of the materials I had written over the years. In 2011 I began writing again. By mid 2013 I will be ready to publish my first eBook, “The Sisters of Selene”.

I’m not sure whether anyone will ever find this book, but I figured I owed it to myself to take one last shot at it. If nothing else, than for my kids.
