Surgeon Commodore Professor Dr Subhash Ranjan,NM,VSM is a Medical Oncologist. He joined the medical branch of the Indian Navy after completing his medical education (MB;BS, MD Internal Medicine) from the prestigious Ganesh Shakar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College, Kanpur. He has done his medical oncology fellowship from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai and is awarded FRCP(Edinburgh). The ambition to join military service since childhood could not retain him in civil for long and he got commissioned into the Army Medical Corps and was seconded to Indian Navy on the 24 May 1991. He did his sea time on the amphibious warship, INS Magar and had been thereafter posted to INHS Kalyani, INHS Asvini, Army Hospital (R&R), New Delhi, Command Hospital (Eastern Command), Kolkata where he served as Consultant/Professor Medicine & Oncology, Head of Departments Medicine and Oncology Centre till 31 May 2020. He commanded INHS Sanjivani Naval Hospital, Southern Naval Command and was the nodal person in the medical operations of the disaster management during floods of 2018 in Kerala. India. He was awarded twice by the President of India for his distinguished and meritorious services in Medical Oncology, Vishisht Seva Medal (2009) and Nausena Medal (2012). He is wildlife enthusiast and a keen aviator. He is into cancer patient care management with Padma Bhushan Padma Shri Dr Suresh Advani in Mumbai, India.
