Fabiana Yvonne Lugli is an Italian Peruvian, New York -based artist, performer, creator, and dancer. She is the founder of SignofSound, a multi-sensorial and multidisciplinary art project that integrates music, action painting, video art, and dance based on interaction and improvisation. The project communicates driven by a non verbal communication. Music, action painting, dance and video art interact live on stage generating an immersive experience where the audience becomes an emotional part of the show.

Core disciplines: Action Painting, Contemporary Dance, Live Music, Video art

Dance & Design Background Rooted in classical ballet and contemporary dance–having trained in Berlin with Felix Ruckert– Lugli experimented the deep connection between dance and visual dynamics while notably designing the sets for Balletto di Roma’s production of "Don Chisciotte” starring "Andre De La Roche" with Milena Zullo, the choreographer. It was during this pivotal production that she began fusing her diverse knowledge into a unified, multidisciplinary vision. Her set was a projection of the dance dynamic into the visual representation of it. It is here that she started fusing all the knowledge she had towards a multidisciplinary vision. She expanded her experimental practice between Rome and New York, developing participatory, cross-disciplinary formats that engage audiences through gesture, rhythm, and spontaneous movement across multiple media. She kept exploring and experimenting till she was able to create her own way of generating and translating internal images, transforming them into an artistic language due to the power of reconnecting mind and body. Her new methodology has been taught for more than a decade at the “Accademia delle Belle Arti”, at the “Accademia Nazionale di Danza”, and at “La Casa del Jazz” in Rome.

Transatlantic Practice: Her musical interactions include working with Maestro Theo Allegretti, Susanna Stivali, Maurizio Giammarco, John B. Arnold, Maurizio Fioretti, Max Vanderbeek, Carla Marciano, Javier Girotto, Francesca Faro, Tony Carnevale, ENTROPIA, J.D. Allen, Fabio Morgera, Marcello Allulli, Antonio Sanchez, Gregoire Maret, Roberto Procaccini, Matthew Garrison among many others. She has also collaborated with photographers Marco Bulgarelli, Cinzia Carbonelli, Gisella Sorrentino and Stephen DeVita; dancers Valentina Buffone, Fabia Pulcini, Valentina Tavella, Martina Tavella, Valentina Dell’Amore; video artist Matteo Basile and Angelo Bellobono, set designers, Marco Martucci; make up artist Eva Nestori; costume designer Flavia G. Tomassi. Through these rich, transatlantic partnerships, she continues to explore and push the boundaries of live, experimental art.

Institutional Presentation: In Rome, her research has been featured at prestigious cultural institutions, including the "Academy of Fine Arts", the “National Academy of Dance,” and the "House of Jazz”. In the United States she introduced SignofSound at the "Italian Cultural Institute" in New York City. Her work also connects with "Galleria Russo”in Rome, and SignofSound has been presented at the historic “Pollock-Krasner House & Study Center" in Springs, (East Hampton, NY) with Francesca Franco, Professor.

Her SignofSound “SignofSound” supported at different times organizations like "Culture for One" and "Pachamama" both from New York City that helped introduce art as a form of therapy for children in foster homes and offered free access to art programs to migrant children.

SignofSound will be presented at the WFP - World Federation for Psychotherapy at the 24th World Congress of Psychotherapy at the United Nations (UN) on June 4-6, 2026, in New York, New York. “Psychotherapy, Mental Health and Human Rights - Caring for Vulnerable populations, Healthcare Professionals, and Humanitarian Relief Workers. Fabiana Yvonne Lugli will be presenting her research in collaboration with Francesca Franco “Art for Therapy and Image Recreation in the Treatment of Depressive Wounds”.

SignofSound is at the moment (March 2026) collaborating on crowdfunding for the “Art of Elysium” -an artist organization, non-profit that builds on the idea that through service, art becomes a catalyst for social change - participating in the competition “The People’s Artist” by Johnny Deep.

Art as Therapy and Healing Over the years, Lugli has used SignofSound to explore the deep connection between art and psychotherapy, where it is not the art that cures but the relationship that is developed within the art that heals by reacting and connecting to deep emotions. Her practice serves as a powerful tool for transformation, providing deep human connection and active social engagement across Italy and the United States.
