User:Shetech

SheTech is the longstanding nickname for Rebekkah Hilgraves (née Graves). The nickname was given to her by the IT Manager at Exodus Technologies, because at the time she was the only female member of the technical team. The nickname has persisted since the late 1990s and became the basis of a company name, SheTech and Company, incorporated in 2007. Hilgraves is the founder of the company.

Rebekkah Hilgraves was born in Washington DC in 1966 and currently lives in Los Angeles, California. She has been a radio broadcaster for WNIU in DeKalb, Illinois; WNED-FM in Buffalo, New York; KQED in San Francisco; KING-FM in Seattle. With a Bachelor of Music degree, she has continued to study opera performance privately with Edward Sayegh, Myron Myers, Neal Goren, Thomas Wolf and Gerald Martin Moore. She gave the premiere performances of Sam Belich's opera The Eglantine in New York City and the song cycle Rachel Rising, composed by Rob Deemer based on Hilgraves' poetry cycle of the same name, and has sung with several orchestras around the country in concert performances. Still active as a classical performer, she also teaches through her studio in San Mateo, California.

Hilgraves' technical career has included technical support, documentation, training, product management, and consulting. She is also a radio broadcaster, having been on the air with WNIU, DeKalb, Illinois; WNED-FM, Buffalo, New York; KQED, San Francisco, California and KING-FM, Seattle, Washington. She now hosts a weekly program on Stillstream, an internet radio station focusing on ambient and electronic music.
