Gopichand Hanumantrao Chate
Gopichand Hanumantrao Chate (born 17 March 1967) is an Indian educationist and entrepreneur, best known as one of the co-founders of Chate Coaching Classes, a leading educational institution in Maharashtra. He also serves as Director of multiple educational and media ventures, including Chate Publications Pvt. Ltd. and Megha Advertising & Marketing Consultancy. He is the Hon. Chairman of Bhaskaracharya Pratishthan, Aurangabad.
Early life and education
Gopichand Chate was born in Tambva village, Kaij Taluka, Beed district, Maharashtra. He completed his primary education in Chausala and pursued higher studies in Aurangabad, earning a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree. As a student, he stood 1st in the 4th Standard Board Exam & Scholarship exam in Beed district and was awarded a scholarship by the Maharashtra State Examination Council, Pune.
Career
In 1986, Gopichand Chate, along with his elder brother Prof. Machindra Chate, co-founded Chate Coaching Classes in Aurangabad. The institute aimed to bring structure, discipline, and innovation to competitive exam coaching. While Prof. Machindra Chate focused on academics, Gopichand Chate spearheaded institutional expansion across Maharashtra.
Under their leadership, Chate Coaching Classes has produced over:
- 14,744+ doctors
- 28,286+ engineers
- 446+ IITians
Today, the institution operates 100+ branches with thousands of faculty members, focusing on NEET, JEE, and MHT-CET preparation. It has become a symbol of quality education in both urban and rural Maharashtra.
