The School of Performing Arts is a music school with locations in Stevens Point and Marshfield, Wisconsin. Founded in 2006 by co-directors Heidi Corcoran and Aaron Marx, under the original name Prairie Oaks Conservatory, the School of Performing Arts strives to provide high-quality music instruction to students of all ages in the Central Wisconsin Area.

History

In 2006, after attending graduate school and serving as instructor of Suzuki cello for one year at Denison University, Heidi Corcoran returned to her hometown of Stevens Point, Wisconsin with the goal of founding her own music school. The resulting company was the Prairie Oaks Conservatory, Ltd. which offered lessons on violin, viola, cello, piano and voice with both Suzuki and traditional methods. Her husband, Aaron, served as instructor of violin and musicianship. The Marshfield location was started at the same time as an extension school, with faculty members commuting to offer lessons. In 2008 Aaron took over much of the administrative duties of the school, changing the name to Prairie Oaks School of Music and helping the faculty and student body to expand. In 2012 the name was changed again to School of Performing Arts.
