I am the Director of Education for the News Literacy Project, an education non-profit that develops education programs for teaching news literacy. Today's information landscape is incredibly complex and overwhelming yet presents unique opportunities. We must teach students to become independent, critical consumers of news and information.
Prior to joining NLP, I was a classroom teacher in Chicago Public Schools for 13 years. I taught history and humanities at Disney II Magnet High School, Robert Lindblom Math & Science Academy and Farragut Career Academy In 2004 I earning my Bachelor's in the Teaching of History at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In 2009 I earned my M.Ed in e-learning from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign through the University of Illinois Global Campus. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher for Social Studies.
