User:Mountmosmos
Mountmosmos is coined from English and Kenyan Urban Slang. The word "mos" is a Dholuo word that means "slowly" as can be used in "Taking it slowly." Taking things slowly has been appraised as having beneficial results in Global wise sayings with the English version saying, "Hurry, hurry has no blessings," the Kiswahili version saying, "Mwenda pole hufika," among others, the Ekegusii version saying, "Binto 'mbia ng'ora, nsagasaga bikwanga," - things are meant to be done slowly, hurriedness only causes things to fail. A famous song even exists to this regard... no wonder it has been said since colonial times that there is NO HURRY IN AFRICA. Mountmosmos was selected as a user-name because the initial choice "MountMoses", which rhymes with the associated Mount Moses Observatory blog-site had already been claimed by another user. "Mosmos" in Kenyan urban slang-culture reads like "slow-slow" meaning we are taking it slowly by slowly.
This user's goal is to represent the African perspective that has been largely misrepresented or ignored. The belief is held that Wikipedia will make much more sense when cultural facts can be sourced and presented first-hand by those whom the articles speak about. Isn't it true that Africa is understood best by ourselves as Africans because we are part of it? Some of the major issues affecting Africa include Christianity - that has been made part of us and we understand it, same with Islam. Consequently, the name Moses has become integral to us. When this user talks about Mount Moses and takes the user-name Mountmosmos, the conviction is held that as Africans with heightened access capabilities we have our own special kind of light that can help illuminate the bigger picture allowing new and very helpful angles of understanding reality for very many people.
