ENVENOMED

Envenomed are a Melodic thrash metal band from Melbourne - Australia, started by Anthony Mavrikis that began performing live in 2006. Mavrikis first started trying to form the band in 2004 with his neighbor, Scott Barton on drums. The pair had a bunch of rehearsal sessions together and put together the bones on the songs "In Sanity's Stead" and "Rage's War Within" which would appear in their entirety on the bands 2009 EP. In the process that Mavrikis and Barton were jamming together, ex-band mate from High school Steve Stergiadis (Anarion, Circadian Pulse, Nehemiah) was invited to join the band which he was doing on the semi basis due to his commitment to Anarion. The pair jammed with high school friend Ben Hunt (Eye of the Enemy, The Committal) but nothing would come of it. Stergiadis would eventually leave due to his band mates concerns about his commitment to his band, and Barton would follow due to his need to concentrate on his studies in his final year of high school. In Early 2005 Mavrikis would re start his search for new band members, tying out a bunch of people from the website "Melband" a local Melbourne website/forum for musicians. Throughout the process he briefly played with Warren Russell (Keys to Perdition / Horizons edge) and Nick Kitharistas (Cell). In June 2005 Joe Philips, a drummer from Darwin - N.T. replied to an add on Melband looking for a drummer. Mavrikis and Philips together sparked the ignition of Envenomed, naming the band (from the joke temporary name "Muscly guy with a sword")and writing and rehearsing a set of new songs to perform live. A brief stint was joined in the band by Guitarist Clinton Bidie who decided it wasn't for him. The pair asked Andy Baker(Embodied), Philips long time friend from Darwin to try out on bass and Julian Thompson (Cell) was not long after recruited on Lead guitar, Leaving Mavrikis with Lead vocal and guitar duties. This first incarnation of the band Would perform live on Dec 10th 2006 at the John Curtain Hotel, Carlton VIC with In Malice's Wake, Catwalk Syndrome & Subhuman Disorder for a friends birthday gig. This line up of the band with the would be short lived with Baker and Thompson leaving. In early 2007, Steve Stergiadis would re join the band on Lead guitar not long after his departure from Anarion, and Simon Best (Vanishing Point) would be recruited on long after on Bass. This line up played their first show in a string of gigs throughout 2007, supporting Black Majesty at the Central Club in Richmond, then again later that year as main Support for they're Tommorowland album launch at the same venue, to good crowd response. Joe Philips would play his last show with Envenomed in Dec 10th 2007, exactly 1 year to the date played his first. Philips was replaced shortly after by Nick Trajanovski on Drums, shortly afterward Stergiadis would again leave and was replaced by Sean Blanchard (Eye of the Enemy, Anarchspere, Dead City Ruins)on lead guitars. This lineup would play throughout 2008, until later that year Simon Best would leave the band due to Health issues. Work had already began on the bands debut EP which features bass performed by Best. Mavrikis was at this stage playing simultaneously in Hard Rock/Metal outfit "Demonhead" on bass guitar, and asked his friend, guitarist/vocalist from the band, Dave Lowes to do a returned double shift in Envenomed on Bass. This lineup would play a bunch of shows throughout '09 and release the bands Debut self titled EP. The band launched the CD at The Esplanade Hotel - St Kilda mid way through the year marking the Departure of Drummer Nick Trajanovski and Guitarist Sean Blanchard. Shortly after due to and Interstate gig offer in Brisbane, and to promote the band as they had just released their CD, Mavrikis and Lowes friends from "In Malice's Wake' Mark Farrugia(drums) and Dave Graham(guitar) would temporarily join the band. This was a short lived event as Mavrikis himself decided to put his focus into and join "Eye of the Enemy" who were doing very well and put Envenomed on the shelf. The band lay dormant for nearly a year and a half until in late 2010, the band returned for a one off show at the Central Club - Richmond, featuring on lead Vocals Aaron Fitzpatrick also with Lowes on Bass and Farrugia on Drums and Graham on Guitar. Mavrikis had stood aside and was just on guitar and backing vocals. There was another extended break until Mavrikis left "Eye of the Enemy" in early 2012 and decided to pick Envenomed up again full swing. The 2012 linup stood as : Anthony Mavrikis - Guitars, Dave Lowes - Bass, Mark Farrugia - Drums, Aaron Fitzpatrick - Vocals, and A.J. Finch (Bane Of Winterstorm) was recruited on Lead guitar. The band returned to live scene with a positive response and played a string of shows throughout 2012 and releasing a single "Global Deception". Towards the end of 2012, Mark Farrugia, due to being a temporary member helping out the band, was replaced by Adam Bartelson (Septerrus)on Drums. In early 2013 A.J. Finch and Dave Lowes would leave the band to concentrate on their own projects and Aaron Fitzpatrick would follow soon after due to health issues with his voice. Mavrikis stepped back into lead vocals and recruited Brendan Farrugia (Elm Street)on lead Guitar. Bartelson, Farrugia and Mavrikis have been working throughout '13 on Envenomed's Debut Album due early 2014 . . . .
