Martin Butler - Guitarist- 1970-2005

Martin Butler was the main pioneer of rock music. He wasnt the most famous rock star but thats due to the fact of his hideous disfigurement. Due to complications during childbirth his soft bones in his face fractured and moved out of place. Despite the doctors best efforts, Martin was left horribly disfigured. But despite his rather grotesque manner, he rose to be one of the biggest influences of metal music to date. Martin didnt start learning guitar until the age of 13 but he excelled with haste. And as his talent grew so did his love for metal music which brought him to his first concert. He went to see his favourite band Metallica. It was a small gig as Metallica were only starting up around 1983, and Martin was in the crowd. It was a rather small bar and the band were quite close to the crowd and during one of their sets, James Hetfield gripped him up on to the stage. He handed his guitar to him and let him play. James Hetfield was astounded by what he heard and he referred a band called " Butch's Bays" to hire him after their last guitarist had walked. This began Martin's rise to fame. He began to grow impatient with his bands constant cock ups so he went and started a solo career, releasing such albums as " You Doin", " Ballix", "Hapnin" and the most famous album " Riffmeister" which rose to 192 in the top 200 of all time. Despite his obvious grotesque appearance , fans loved him, but this was to be a short loved idolisation, as in 86' Martin fell down a manhole. He did not die from the fall but during his unconciousness the manhole was covered and sadly he did not find a way out. Such a grim death for such a unparralelled talen. He left behind many grieving fans and a legacy that lived until 87' when they all just forgot about the greatness...that was Martin Butler..

Backround Information

In Martin's short life time, he left behind a legacy. But his achievements outside the music scene were far greater. Martin was involved in many schemes in his local home town of Belfast, were he lived in a troubled neighbourhood of Ballymurphy, a community torn apart by groups who could only be called the Neeings. These group of miscreants vandalised and hurled abuse at anyone, who wasnt Samuel L Jackson. They Feared noone...except Samuel L Jackson..because lets face it...He is a big guy. But although many of these vandals were big at the time many of them....are dead now. Most died through inhalation of such substances as Glue, Petrol and Tipp-ex.. Many also died as they moved through life and couldnt understand why inhaling glue and living on the dole...doesnt bring home the bacon. Anyway Martin survived this glue filled sausage fest and moved on to bigger places, the mountain...and lived until the age of 12 in a decaying hovel on the Blackmountain, the local eyesore which can be viewed from every angle in Belfast, escept from the Shankill, as they are all going to hell and arent allowed to have fun or joyous moments in life. His parents were tragically killed at a circus disaster. The circus came every year to the Kennedy Centre on the Falls Road and was an American Travesty that despite bad reviews every year, still continued to plague or ears and eyes, and most our noses from the smell of elephant faeces, left behind. They ( his parents) were visiting one such show on June 25th, 1982 when a tightrope holding three midgets and a monkey snapped and killed several people in the stands. It was a horrific freak accidnet, the likes of which had never been seen, outside of the circus trade. He overcame this tradgey and poured his heartache into his music, but in doing so became a recluse, not talking to anyone or anything except his pet, Clipper, a Neutered Tarantula which he purchased at his local pet store, "You Kill Em', We Grill Em'". IT was this strange obsession with this tarantula that got his music so deeply sick and twisted that the people loved it.
