Spectrum of Products is a term heavily used in Manufacturing, mostly in areas such as Materials and Logistics whose responsibility is to guard, protect and move material with the intention to transform and/or add some value to it. Spectrum of Products is then considered as a "classification" given by Materials People or Logisticians for several purposes. One of these could be to differentiate tangible from intangible products, or consequently to determine an effective way to have them moved according its size, weight, or sensitive or hazardous nature. The identification of a spectrum in products is really important, without a proper one, product could be damaged, dangerous and or expensive for further commercialization

Spectrum of relationships. Also called as Strategic Alliance or Partnership. This is another way to classify and at the same time reinforced the relationship existing between Customers and Suppliers. And by knowing what is the relationship or partnership they all have with others Suppliers and Customers they can benefit each other in many ways. For instance, A logistic company may try to gain business with companies who are supplied by a same vendor or vice verse (several vendors supplying one customer in common) in order to consolidate freights. Another benefit will be the replacement of a service or product; In case of a shortage a customer by having this spectrum well define will find a secondary vendor that can supply the product that the main vendor can't, or have the product transported by a different carrier who does a close or even same route for a not too expensive cost.
