LegitChex is a Canadian information security company based in Oakville, Ontario that is developing mobile applications that deal with information validation. It's products are in differing stages of development and include the LegitChex app, and the B-Legit Business network.

LegitChex was founded by Jericho Digos in 2015 after a close family member was scammed online when trying to buy from a classifieds website. Since foundation, the base application that LegitChex has created has gone into a public beta on Android devices through Google Play.

The LegitChex Application

The LegitChex application is the first project that LegitChex launched. The application works by allowing users to verify their identity and chat with each other in a social network. Work on the application began very shortly after the founding of the company.The way that the verification process works is through a registering of a user's government issued identification, but it is worth nothing that a user does not need to be verified to start using the application, but rather that it feeds into their validity score. Users can search for each other through their LID's or Legit Identification.

The main uses for this application that the company has advertised have to do with buying and selling from classified adverts and online dating. Although those are some examples, the application does function as a secure way to chat to other users and it is not limited in any way from LegitChex.

Validity Score

Every user that has an account is rated in terms of validity. Validity itself is made up of two scores: Identity and Trust. Identity score is obtained by validating identification. Trust score is obtained by being trustworthy is exchanges with other users. Users are also asked to rate each other after their exchange. This public rating allows future users to see how trustworthy a person is based on their past interactions and feeds into each user's validity rating.
