Joe Goode
Joe Goode is head of communications for the United States Golf Association (USGA), the governing body for the game of golf in America, its territories, and Mexico. He served in senior corporate communications positions at Bank of America and FleetBoston Financial, and previously covered the Bush and Clinton Administrations as a Washington D.C. correspondent for Standard News Radio Network. [1]
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Goode is a 1988 graduate of Stonehill College, where he studied political communications, and played football and tennis. In 1984, he graduated from Boston College High School, a Jesuit-based college preparatory institution.
Goode held senior communications positions at two of the world’s leading financial services corporations from July 1996 to September 2011, last as senior vice president at Bank of America (2003-2011) where he was responsible for developing integrated public relations campaigns in support of the company’s advertising, brand and sports marketing programs. [2]
In 2006, Goode was assigned to advise Bank of America Global Strategy and Marketing Officer Anne M. Finucane, and lead successful programs to promote the company’s “Bank of Opportunity” brand positioning and “America’s Cheer” campaign in support of the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team. [3] [4]
In October 2011, Goode was appointed as managing director of communications for the United States Golf Association. An early task from the executive board to Goode was to strengthen the brand and reputation of the 117 year-old organization, whose emerging business strategy was to pursue complex changes to the Rules of Golf and confront issues that threaten the overall health of the game, including slow play, affordability, environmental sustainability, and globalization of golf. [2]
Personal
Goode resides in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, with his wife and two sons.
