Harriet Deacon is a historian with experience in the fields of African history, medical history and heritage studies. She works as a correspondent for The Archival Platform, a heritage and archives advocacy project in South Africa (http://www.archivalplatform.org), and as a facilitator for the UNESCO capacity-building project on the Intangible Heritage Convention. She is based in the UK.
