GenXTalks!

GenXtalks is a never ending view of the world through the eyes of one Generation X led family.

Brief History

GenXtalks was born from the frustrations of a teenage boy trying to become famous on Tik Tok in 2019. Like most kids his age trying to become popular on the new Tik Tok platform he was met with mostly frustration and doubt for well over a year. Knowing he needed a niche, an angle, something different from the other channels he decided to involve his dad. His dad was born December 25th in 1967 and was at the heart of Generation X. The kid was hoping to capture the 'grumpy old man' attitude and find a way to guide it into a video. But for a solid 6 months his dad rejected the idea. He had named his new channel "Time with my dad" but even the title wasn't helping him bring dad around and willing to participate. Sitting on a stool under a spotlight and being asked questions was not something his dad was interested in, bonding time or not. As almost a last act of desperation he went to his mother. Explaining to her what he was trying to accomplish and assuring her this would work, he laid out all his efforts to date and asked for help. His mother had some simple advice. "Dad knows what you are trying to do so he won't be too surprised that you are carrying a phone around filming. But try and get him while he works. Don't approach him when he is concentrating but more when he is just doing mundane things and he might tolerate you for a minute or two." Armed with his new plan he needed to make sure his first discussion wouldn't be his last. It needed to keep dads interest just as much as potential viewers. At the time common core math, electric vehicles and millennials were hot topics in his dads world of conversation, and with Tik Tok growing and the kid feeling left behind, he went for it. Finding his dad in the garage working at his tool box he started with "Do you ever wonder what a GenX thinks? Welcome to GenXTalks". Although his dad wasn't happy about being filmed or interrupted he also didn't want to miss the chance to vent on the questions asked. His dad angrily replied, the kid filmed and finally GenXTalks was born. The video received 700,000 views on Tik Tok,which was a home run back then and especially for a first time video. The followers climbed to 30,00 the first month and the kid was off and running. Along the way he officially changed the channel name to GenXTalks and eventually it spread out to other platforms..

Staff Members

GenXtalks staff cover a range of duties to help the channel along. From moderating to hosting movies staff is essential to any success.

Original Staff

GenXTalks staff was originally GenZKid and his father GenXDad. After a while their mother joined with small appearances in videos and she started to build and handle the business side of the brand. After the first year, frequent livestreams and a new podcast forum forced them to take on moderators. "Allie from Boston' was the first. Allie knew the channels and the brand and was already a big fan. She came on board just after the first year and quickly assumed command of a lot of the fridge work that was bogging down The kid and his dad. Allie was able to produce intro videos and logos to upgrade the look of GenXtalks. She created a calendar and kept schedules and events flowing. LionHeatOG was initially brought in to moderate the livestreams and "Miz Liz" offered her services as a program director for in-person appearances that were beginning to arrive on the request desk. With a team in place it was time to move forward.

GenZKid

'He was conceived in a van behind a gas station in Gorman, Ca.' He hates that story, but it's true according to both GXT parents. Sorta like saying you were born in the backseat of a greyhound bus riding down highway 101. (link song here) Yes, that is a Gnerational song reference. Kid Z, or GenZKid was born Ocotber 23rd, 2005 in Burbank, California at St. Joes Medical Center.

GenXDad (The General)

GenXDad, alsoknown as The General, was born in the suburbs of Los Angeles in 1967. He grew up in the 70's and 80's in the San Fernando Valley and therefore a lot of his references in influnces reflect that time and place. Looking back as he started out at Village Christian School and spending his formative years in and around La Tuna Canyon, The General felt his childhood could not have been placed on a better canvas. He first met GenXMom when he was 5 years old in school and thier 5th and 6th grade class pictures show them standing just a few feet apart.

Additional Staff breakdown

In any business staff come and go.

Allie (2021-2022)

'Allie from Boston' joined up just after the first year and was eager to help GenXtalks get organized and was a great addition to help give the brand a facelift with new logo ideas and banners. Allie participated in almost every aspect of GenXtalks from in-person events to online comment sections. Even going so far as to be on the phone with The General throughout the entire stream guiding him thorugh things he was missing while the broadcast unfolded. Before her departure in the summer of 2022 Allie carried a lot of weight in GenXtalks and is still loved and missed by the fans even today.

Miz Liz (2022)

Miss Liz met up with GenXtalks at a car show in Fontana, CA. After a short discussion numbers were exchanged and sonn after she offered her services as a program director. Although her tenure was short she was able to negotiate a date for GenXtalks to perform one night at Flappers Comedy CLub in Burbank with other regular known comedians of the day.

LionHeart (2022-2023)

LionheartOG had been a fan following the channel for almsot 2 years before joining the staff. As a frequent voice in the comment sections he was a natural choice to offer a moderator position. He did well and was allowed to moderate across all the platforms and was instrumental working with GenZKid when it came time to introduce the new GenXtalks Discord server. Once the Discord server was up and running LionHeartOG became the 'Supreme Overlord' of the server and all its chatrooms. With a goal of retaining 500 members by the end of the year, he has helped develop GenXtalks discord to over 2000 members in the first 6 months, far ahead of schedule. Eventually bringing on Trippy Pineapple to help carry the load in Discord.
